architectural composition
Located in Tianjin Cultural Center and the former Tianjin Museum, the new Museum covers an area of 50000 square meters, with a total construction area of 35000 square meters and a display area of 14000 square meters, including four parts: permanent exhibition area, temporary exhibition area, experience entertainment area and popular science education area. The core building has three floors with a total height of 16.9m.
In the design of the exhibition hall, its "circle" is the central exhibition hall, and its "square" is composed of nine basic exhibition halls. According to the functional requirements of the exhibition, the central exhibition hall is placed in the leading position of the building, and the circular sequence hall arranged according to the terrain leads the audience to the central exhibition hall naturally. The circular central exhibition hall with a diameter of 32m mainly displays dinosaurs, Yellow River elephants and other large animal fossils.
The appearance design of the exhibition hall also takes "square" and "circle" as the motif of composition. The center exhibition hall adopts the kissing shape of milky white metal shell and glass hemisphere to form the architectural appearance of "Seashell with beads", implying the creative concept of human facing nature, returning to nature and returning to nature, and reflecting the development level of modern architectural technology. The granite relief wall with a length of 30 meters and a height of 3 meters is used as the base of the lower part of the glass ball hall, which is in sharp contrast with the crystal glass hemisphere. It organically combines the shape with the function of the central exhibition hall, and has a strong sense of sculpture and symbolism.

The second floor, with an area of 5700 square meters, is composed of "ancient homeland" and "modern homeland". It adopts the theme unit display mode of combining ancient and modern, displaying nearly 10000 pieces of paleontological fossils, rocks, minerals and living plant specimens.
Relying on the new view of the earth and the latest scientific research achievements, it shows the earth home's 3.8 billion year history of the occurrence and development of the life world from inorganic to organic, from single cell to multi cell, from simple to complex, from low to high, and even to the present magnificent and UPS and downs.
The exhibition is divided into eight units:
Ecological Exhibition Area
The exhibition area of home ecology is 3400 square meters. Based on more than 200 rare World Wildlife specimens donated by Kenneth Bailin, a famous american philanthropist and honorary citizen of Tianjin city over the years, the collection of some rare wildlife specimens, such as giant panda and golden monkey, will be increased to show the typical animal groups of all continents in the world.
In the design concept, the exhibition area of "homeland · ecology" highlights the ecosystem, and in the form, it shows the diversity of the ecosystem with a big landscape and big hand. Each continent's fauna is composed of several landscapes, each landscape is displayed in different scenes, and each scene is represented by a typical story of animal life. The most representative wild animals and their ecological environment in the world are accurately and scientifically reproduced in front of the audience by using artificial landscape and background painting, combined with various modern display means, to vividly show the real scene of animal life. The exhibition is rich in content and various in forms, including display boards, multi-media and interactive settings, which improves the audience's desire for exploration. In order to achieve the purpose of Mr. Bailin's donation: "let the children who don't have the opportunity to visit these places feel personally through visiting our exhibition.".
The exhibition mainly includes the following parts:
