The Catholic Diocese Church of Sheng'an road in Xinjiang county, also known as the "Xinjiang General Church", is located on the high cliff at the top of the North Street of Xinjiang county. It is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Yuncheng. It administers the educational affairs of 23 cities and counties, including Yuncheng and Linfen, with more than 18000 members.
Xinjiang is the first place where Catholicism was introduced into Shanxi Province. In 1620 ad (the 48th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty), Italian priest Arius came to Jiangzhou and established the first Catholic Church in Shanxi Province. In 1936, the Vatican established Jiangzhou as the patriarchal and pastoral area, and designated Xinjiang as the Bishop's Cathedral. He is a member of the Franciscan missionary District of the Netherlands. Saint Antony, the Catholic bishop, is the head of the diocese and the cathedral. He is also the shepherd bishop of Kong Zhaoming, a Franciscan of the Netherlands. There are monasteries, nunneries, the society for the protection of the red, homes for the aged, Shoushan hospital, andao school and the church council. The Bishop's mansion covers an area of more than 60 mu and has more than 200 houses. In 1937, in memory of his son, bishop Kong's mother, who was a shepherd, sponsored the construction of a large Gothic cathedral with 45 kg of gold. Together with the churches in Qingdao, Shanghai and Guangzhou, it is known as the four major Catholic churches in China. Its construction scale is the largest of the Gothic churches in China.

Xinjiang Catholic Church is a large Catholic Church located in Xinjiang county, Shanxi Province, China. The Episcopal Church of the Catholic Diocese of Xinjiang (Yuncheng) is located on a high cliff at the top of Chengbei street in Xinjiang county. Xinjiang is the first place where Catholicism was introduced into Shanxi Province. In 1620 (the 48th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty), Italian priest Arius came to Jiangzhou and established the first Catholic Church in Shanxi Province.
In 1935, the Vatican announced the establishment of the Xinjiang diocese, which is one of the eight Catholic dioceses in Shanxi Province and governs the Catholic churches in 22 counties nearby.
In 1937, Dutch priest Kong Zhaoming built a large cathedral with Gothic architectural style here, which is one of the largest Gothic churches in China.
