Former residence of Chen Mingren
Chen Mingren's former residence is located in No. 116, guayuping, the Confucian temple residents committee under the jurisdiction of lailongmen sub district office, Liling City, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.
The former residence was built by General Chen Mingren in 1920s. Covers an area of 1145 square meters, courtyard brick and wood structure, the main building is divided into two before and after, each with three floors. The walls are made of red bricks and are as high as the windows on the second floor. On the top of the walls are inlaid with a 25 × 40 cm Ma Shi boundary tablet. The inscription is "Chen Liang Ji of this wall is in charge of it alone", and the handwriting is clear. There are more than 20 houses in the whole building, with small green tile roof and square green brick floor. The courtyard is quiet and pleasant. Facing the gate, there is a century old well covered with round stone slab. It is well preserved and is still used by residents. Chen Mingren, Zi Liang, was born in chenjialing, Hongyuan village, Nanqiao Town, Liling City, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province on April 7, 1903. In 1924, he joined the army's military academy and later transferred to the first phase of Huangpu Military Academy. He once served as commander of the Kuomintang army, commander of the Corps, acting chairman of the Hunan provincial government, etc. On August 4, 1948, General Chen Mingren and general Cheng Qian jointly sent a telegram to announce the uprising and peaceful liberation of Hunan. After the founding of new China, he successively served as commander, commander, deputy commander of the PLA corps, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, etc. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of general and the first Liberation Medal. He died in Beijing on May 21, 1974 at the age of 71. General Chen Mingren is a senior general of the Chinese people's Liberation Army and a strategist who has had a great influence in the modern military history of our country. The front gate of this former residence, which he built by himself at that time, was once hung with the forehead of "Liangzhuang". Although the handwriting is covered, the whole building is well preserved. In 2005, Chen Mingren's former residence was announced as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit.
