Architectural features
Jingxian Jia's ancestral hall faces south from the north in a hard hilltop style. The whole ancestral hall is a mixed beam structure of lifting beam and crossing bucket, covering an area of more than 1800 square meters. It is a four entry hall building, which is composed of four parts: the day palace, the worship Pavilion, the dormitory and the Guanyin hall. The layout of the whole building follows the symmetry principle of the palace building. The rain Pavilion, worship Pavilion, bedroom and Guanyin hall are all located on the north-south axis, and the corridors, courtyards and wing rooms are symmetrically distributed along the axis.
Jingxian Jia's ancestral hall is an old hall building with brick and wood structure in the early Ming Dynasty. It is a grand building group with seven entrances and seven exits. Its craft and scale are rare among the existing ancestral halls in ancient villages in China. There are two rare things in China: one is that the central axis is similar to the central axis of the Beijing Palace Museum building group, but the scale is small; the other is that the internal structure has a north-south style, and there are very few eight trigrams lotus Pavilion.
Jia's ancestral hall is one of the classic works of residential architecture, which is the beam through structure of the method of reducing the column in one step. Ancestral temple is a place for clan gathering activities, which uses column reduction method to expand more space, or to build temporary stage for performance. The method of reducing columns makes the mechanical principle of "stealing beams and changing columns" scientific and reasonable, which can be called the classic mechanical work in ancient architecture.
Main buildings
Jingxian Jia's ancestral hall is symmetrically arranged along the central axis. From south to north, it is the gate tower, the daytime brocade hall, the rain Pavilion, the middle hall, the baguatu terrace courtyard, the worship Pavilion, the dormitory and the Guanyin hall. There are wing rooms and hanging buildings on both sides of the daytime brocade hall and the middle hall. In front of the temple is a stone lion, with six columns and five double eaves pavilions on the front of the gate tower, and a plaque of "Zhongxian dafudi" is placed in the middle. There is a front porch between the gatehouse and the day palace.
As soon as you enter the courtyard, it is the day palace. On both sides of the gate of the ancestral hall are a pair of stone drums carved with LIAOSHAN blue stone. Across the gate, the house is a courtyard corridor courtyard structure, the courtyard is a zigzag shape, supported by four thick stone columns. There is a rain Pavilion on the patio. The roof of the pavilion adopts double eaves and four vertical roofs, with gentle slope. The structure of the roof of the rain Pavilion is an Eight Trigram shaped caisson. Yuting caisson is a three-layer caisson with a round top and a precious flower in the middle. On the East and west sides of the day palace, there are stilts and double eaves. There are inscriptions in gold, such as "Jinshi", "brother Tongke", "Rongfeng three generations".
The second entrance is the worship Pavilion. The floor in front of the worship Pavilion is decorated with axe blade bricks to form a Bagua shaped pattern, which is integrated with the Bagua shaped wall. As the name suggests, the worship Pavilion is a place for people to worship. In order to increase the space for worship and avoid the people from being exposed to the sun and rain, the eaves were built to become the worship Pavilion.
Sanjinyuan is the palace where ancestors are worshipped. It is a mixed structure of lifting beam and crossing bucket, with 3 wide faces and 5 deep depths. It is suspended on the top of the mountain and exposed completely.
The fourth entrance courtyard is Guanyin hall, which was built in Ming Dynasty to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva.
