Nujiang hump route Memorial Hall
With a total area of 3300 m2 and a construction area of 1209 m2, the Nujiang hump route memorial hall is the only exhibition hall in China displaying precious cultural relics of the wreckage of the hump crash, supplemented by detailed pictures and materials, which comprehensively reflects the tragic history of the Chinese and American people's joint fight against Japanese fascism and commemorating the heroic sacrifice of Chinese and American pilots on the hump route.
Construction history
On March 11, 1943, American pilot Jimmy Fox and Chinese pilots Tan Xuan and Wang Guoliang flew the c-53 transport plane of China Airlines from Wujiaba airport in Kunming, China to Tingjiang River in India. Unfortunately, they fell in Pianma Town, Lushui County due to low pressure and strong airflow. In June 1996, the wreckage of the c-53 plane crash was discovered by Burmese hunters. On November 17 of the same year, Myanmar informed China that China attached great importance to it. The people's Government of Lushui County sent personnel to guard the wreckage for 540 days. Qu Tian, a nu youth, became a guardian of the wreckage and gave his life at the age of 24.
Construction reasons
In 1998, with the support of the Yunnan Provincial People's government, Nujiang Prefecture and Lushui County, through various efforts, separated the wreckage of the c-53 plane crash into three parts and transported it to the Pianma anti British Memorial in Lushui County for temporary preservation. The people's Government of Nujiang Prefecture set up a commemorative sign at the site of the c-53 crash. In 2003, the county Party committee and the county government decided to raise funds to build a memorial hall with the wreckage of the c-53 plane crash as the main body. At the same time, a leading group for the construction project of the memorial hall of Nujiang hump route was set up to be responsible for the preparation and financing.
