history
Why is Enning road named "Enning"? According to research, there used to be an enzhou village at one end of Enning road and a Ningxi village at the other. The road must be built through the two villages. After the agreement between the two sides, it was finally named "Enning".
Enning road has the grand view river. It used to be the most prosperous place in Xiguan. The eight bridges on it were called "the prosperity of the eight bridges" in the Qing Dynasty. North of Enning Road, west of shierfu, two branches of xiaxiguanyong and Shangyuan converge in the north of Huiyuan bridge. To the south of Enning Road, to the west of shierfu, there is Penglai bridge at the entrance of fenglaizheng street.
It is said that all the people living on Enning road are rich. In fact, there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor. Unimaginable poverty, hiding behind the gorgeous road. Laojiefang said that simple dwellings were built near Enning Chung on the South and north sides of Enning road. Because of their low culture, most of the original dans who lived there were unable to make a living. They became sanitation workers and "poured incense at night" for the rich families on Enning road. The old neighborhood, which had witnessed their hard life, was full of emotion. "People are equivalent to sleeping with garbage and dung pits. It's more of a slum than a slum. During the cultural revolution in 1966, the authorities changed the name of the road to xiuliyilu in memory of Xiang Xiuli. In 1981, it was renamed Enning road.

It was a very high-end consumer place in the Republic of China. There are more than 1500 soft seats and boxes on the floor of the auditorium. The seats on the floor are made of genuine leather, and the interior walls on the East and west sides are decorated with fake boxes in imitation of foreign theatres. In order to show the noble identity, a notice was specially posted in front of the cinema: "if the clothes are not neat and the shoes are not finished, we will not accept them.". Jinsheng cinema was a public-private joint venture in 1956. It was renamed "Oriental cinema" during the cultural revolution. Its glorious period was in the late 1970s.

In terms of relocation, only the residents with property rights will be provided with a relocation plan, and they will be relocated to the residential area to be built about one kilometer away from the plot. The rest of the public and private housing tenants will move to Jinshazhou new community near Huangqi, Dali Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, and some will move to Zhujiang New Town, Tianhe District. Some will seek their own way out, which will make the traditional folk culture of Guangzhou disappear At the end of the 20th century, foreign tenants who speak Putonghua or local dialects began to pour in, and the old city became hollow.
Some old neighborhoods of Enning road believe that the old city reconstruction is not only to build new buildings, but also to let the native Xiguan people live in Xiguan, "if the Xiguan neighborhoods all move far away, who will tell the history of Xiguan? How to remodel the history and culture of Xiguan? The most important thing is to let the indigenous people stay here, and the inheritance of roots depends on the indigenous people. ".
It is not uncommon for demolition teams from other places to carry out brutal construction on Enning road. Some people even forcibly damaged or even removed valuable buildings and building components under the eyes of the left behind neighbors, and a large number of cultural relics and buildings were damaged. The authorities have not imposed any deterrent punishment on these companies. In January 2013, a large number of people expressed dissatisfaction with the damage of Taihua building caused by the uncovering and covering project in Litchi Bay.
The reconstruction project has also destroyed many ancient streets and alleys that are well known to all. According to the current practice, the names of these streets and alleys will disappear completely geographically.
In an exclusive interview with the night news of Guangzhou TV station on March 7, 2012, Hong Xiannu, a master of Cantonese opera, said: "it's not to build a room for a house or a museum. Enning road can't represent Cantonese opera. It's true that many Cantonese Opera workers lived in Xiguan before, but they lived in Xiguan. It's not Enning Road, it's Xiguan, but most of them lived in Henan.". She believes that the government should gather more people from the Cantonese Opera industry to discuss the contents of the exhibition instead of simply listing the video materials.
