Jianguo senior high school in Taipei is one of the most famous senior high schools in Taiwan. Famous alumni of the school include Ma Yingjiu, Lian Zhan, Chen Yiru, Ding Zhaozhong, etc.
Taipei Jianguo senior high school
Taipei Municipal Chien Kuo Senior High School (jghs, CK), referred to as Jianguo middle school and Jianzhong, is located at 56 Nanhai Road, longguangli 1, Zhongzheng District, Taipei, opposite Nanhai School Park. It is one of the most famous senior high schools in Taiwan. Founded in 1898, it was formerly known as Taipei No.1 Middle School in the period of Japanese occupation in Taiwan. It is also the earliest public middle school in Taiwan.
In 1907, it was established as the governor's Office School of Taiwan. In 1914, it was changed into governor's Office Taipei middle school, and in 1922, it was changed into Taipei state No.1 middle school. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, it was renamed Taiwan Provincial Taipei Jianguo middle school in 1945 and transformed into Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School in 1967.
Historical evolution
Jianguo middle school is the first public high school in Taiwan. The red building was built during the Japanese occupation (1909) and has been listed as a historic site in Taipei city. The campus is close to Nanhai School Park, botanical garden, Bo'ai special zone, Taiwan History Museum, education Radio and other cultural and educational institutions, and the transportation is quite convenient.
Jianzhong is the most famous high school in Taiwan with the longest history and the largest number of students and graduates. On average, only the top 1% (PR = 99) middle school graduates in Taiwan have the opportunity to enter the school in the middle school basic academic proficiency test held every summer. In addition, the school is well-known for its free style of study and the diversified and vigorous development of the community. Each grade has two classes of gifted students in mathematics and physics, one in Yueqi, one in Humanities and Social Sciences, and one in physical education. There are nearly 4000 students and 70 or 80 clubs (the most in Taiwan).
More than 40% of the graduates (about 500 people) have enrolled in various departments of Taiwan's most famous universities. Most of the students from other famous universities in Taiwan, such as Tsinghua University in Hsinchu, Jiaotong University in Hsinchu, Yangming University in Hsinchu, and medical departments in Taiwan Island, are graduates of this university. Over the years, there have been more than 100000 alumni who graduated from high schools in Taiwan. They are distributed all over the world and have the largest number of students and graduates. Many graduates choose to go to first-class universities outside the island.
In the international competition, the students of the school have excellent performance. Most of the representatives selected by Taiwan to participate in the international science and technology exhibition are Jianzhong students, who have won the awards of the US International Science and technology exhibition and other countries' science and technology exhibitions. In the senior high school mathematics and information science ability competition held by the "Ministry of education" of Taiwan authorities, Jianzhong athletes often won the top three awards in various disciplines, obtained the qualification of the International Science Olympiad competition training camp, and finally won the Taiwan team. It is also the school with the largest number of "single School Awards" in the history of the International Science Olympiad. As of 2006, its competitors have won 50 gold medals, 68 silver medals and 21 bronze medals in the International Olympiad (including the Olympiad in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and information).
Except for the policy of admitting female students from mainland China after the internal war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the president only recruited male students since then. Although there was a proposal to change it into a coeducation school, it was never implemented. The school has also been using the traditional Khaki Uniform and green schoolbag of Taiwan middle school. Khaki Uniform has become one of the symbols of the school students' identity.
The name of Jianguo middle school comes from the name dispute between No.1 middle school and No.2 Middle School in Taipei at that time. On December 6, 1945, after Taiwan students from No.1 middle school, No.3 middle school and NO.4 middle school jointly resumed classes, on December 14, the provincial education department ordered Taiwan students from No.1 middle school, No.3 middle school and NO.4 middle school to merge into Taipei No.1 middle school and temporarily attend classes in NO.4 middle school. On Friday, May 15, the class was officially held in NO.4 middle school, with former NO.4 middle school principal min Kobayashi acting as its deputy.
However, the students of the old No.2 Middle school thought that No.2 Middle School was a school mainly composed of Taiwanese, while No.1, No.3 and NO.4 middle schools were mainly composed of Japanese, so No.2 Middle School should become No.1 middle school. They were dissatisfied with the move of the education department. Since taking office in mid January 1946, president Zhang Yaotang has been working hard. On January 28, the education department changed the name of Taipei No.1 middle school to "Taiwan Provincial Jianguo middle school", while No.2 Middle School changed its name to "Taiwan Provincial Chenggong middle school", which means "Taiwan Provincial Jianguo success". Since then, the name of Jianguo middle school has been established and used up to now.
During the Japanese occupation period, most of the "first middle schools" in Taiwan recruited Japanese children (except Taichung No. 1 middle school), and only Taichung No. 2 middle school had a large proportion of Taiwanese students. Therefore, in the early days of the restoration of China, there were many similar disputes between the first and second middle schools. In Taichung, the school name is used, Tainan is exchanged, and Kaohsiung is merged. The women's high school in Taipei is special, and the highest female in Taipei becomes the No.1 women's high school in Beijing. The third tallest female in Taipei was renamed Beier Nvzhong, and then Zhongshan nvgao. Taipei's second and fourth high school girls were severely suspended shortly after the war because of the damage to their school buildings. The second high school girl was originally located in the Legislative Yuan, and the fourth high school girl was originally located in the inner campus of Taipei nursing college.
The period of Japanese occupation
Taipei No.1 Middle School
The school was founded in 1898. At the beginning, it was the Fourth Affiliated School of the national language school. It added ordinary secondary subjects and was a secondary school specially for Japanese students. At the beginning of its establishment, the school changed its name several times. In 1907, it was set up as the Governor General's mansion middle school of Taiwan. The school was divided into two parts. The first part imitated the planning of Eton College in England, hoping to cultivate "big citizens" with a world outlook; the second part imitated the local educational system of Japan, and moved to the new school building in Longkou town in 1909, namely the current site of Nanhai Road. In 1914, it was changed into governor's Office Taipei middle school, and in 1922, it was changed into Taipei state taipei first middle school.
After recovery
After the end of the Second World War, on October 29, 1945, Taiwanese students from Taipei No.1 middle school and Taipei No.4 Middle School resumed classes at Yongle school (now Yongle primary school). In the background, Taiwan students from No.3 Middle School of Taipei joined in. On December 5, they moved to the new National School of Japan (today's new primary school). The next day (December 6), they held a joint opening ceremony at the new primary school, which was later regarded as the school's anniversary. Japanese students from No.1 Middle School of Taipei continued their classes at the original site in the name of Taiwan Provincial benevolence middle school. Eight days later, the Taiwan Provincial Department of education ordered that the students of Taipei No.1 middle school, No.3 middle school and NO.4 middle school should be merged into Taiwan Provincial No.1 middle school. They would temporarily attend classes in the old No.4 Middle School (now the dormitory area in the northeast corner of Jianguo middle school). On January 28, 1946, they were renamed Taiwan Provincial Taipei Jianguo middle school. In 1967, they were transformed into Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School.
After the war, Jianzhong had a variety of educational systems, such as junior high school, junior high school, cram school, junior high school and so on. At the beginning of the war, both men and women were recruited (the recruitment of female students was stopped in 1955). Zhonghe branch was opened in 1955, and it was separated from Zhonghe middle school in 1961. In 1968, junior high schools were closed because of Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education policy. Jianzhong became a senior high school for junior high school graduates. In the early 1980s, night high schools were closed. In 2000, remedial schools were closed. There was only a day high school system for boys.
