Four wells
The four wells are the oldest wells in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. In the past, the street people all lived on this well, with a depth of about 3 meters and a diameter of about 2 meters. The wellhead is covered with stone slabs, leaving only four round water intakes, so it is named. It is one of the famous scenic spots in old Hangzhou, with a history of more than 200 years.
history
In ancient times, Hangzhou was close to the sea, and the Qiantang River was invaded by salty tide, so the water in the river, lake and harbor branches was very salty. In order to solve the problem of drinking water for residents, it was the first-class charity at that time. It is said that more than 1600 years ago in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, a scholar named Guo Pu was good at understanding underground springs and dug the first well, which attracted residents from all over the world to come here to draw water.
More than 1220 years ago, when Li Mi, the Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty, was appointed as a governor in Hangzhou, he dug six more wells, including the "Xiangguo well". Since then, Hangzhou people have become one of the most active cities in China.
present situation
Many years have passed, and with the change of history, the four wells in Hangzhou have gradually become a passing landscape and a permanent thought in the hearts of Hangzhou people.
