Nujiang bridge is located in Liuku Town, Lushui County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It started construction in January 1988 and was put into use in June 1991. The bridge is 678 meters long and 15.8 meters wide. It is a single box variable cross-section three-way prestressed reinforced concrete continuous bridge across Nujiang River. With its super long single span, it ranks first in China and second in Asia. It has become the only traffic lifeline connecting East and West banks in Liuku city.

Overview of bridges

Since the Nujiang bridge was put into use, it has been carrying the arduous task of cross-strait vehicle traffic with full load. Nowadays, cracks and spalling have appeared in the guardrail and crosswalk of the whole bridge. In order to continue to extend the service life of Nujiang bridge and facilitate people's travel, with the approval of the State Party committee and the state government and the strong support of the Lushui county Party committee and government, the reinforcement and maintenance work of Nujiang bridge has been officially started on June 20, 2010, and the construction period is determined to be four months. During the construction period, traffic control will be carried out on the bridge and vehicles are strictly prohibited.

Closing time

The Nujiang bridge will be closed for three times: first, from June 20 to June 22, during the test period of technical parameters of bridge structure before reinforcement, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited to pass. Second, from August 28 to October 2, during the bridge construction period, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited to pass. Thirdly, from October 18 to October 21, and during the load test of the strengthened bridge, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited to pass. During the period of no traffic, vehicles had to cross the river around the Mabu River, which increased from 1 minute to 15 minutes.
