Yansong, also known as masson pine, five needle pine. It is a kind of evergreen shrub that creeps and disperses along the rock crevices in alpine or subalpine areas of Daxing'an Mountains. The twisty trunk is about 10 meters long, with a bunch of five needle leaves. The pale yellow and purplish red spherical stamens form a brilliant contrast, which reproduces the hermaphroditic characteristics of Pinus pumila.
