Guangzhou Cultural Park was founded in 1956, formerly known as the South China local products exhibition and exchange conference, which was completed and opened on October 14, 1951.
On February 24, 1952, when the exchange meeting closed, the municipal government decided to use the original facilities and manpower to reorganize it into a long-term cultural activity site with the nature of a local chronicle Museum. On March 8, 1952, it was renamed "Lingnan cultural relics Palace".

Seafood
Located in the east of the central square of the park, the aquarium was built in June 1951. It is the first aquarium built in China after the founding of new China. During the brilliant period of the aquarium in the 1950s and 1980s, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Chen Yi, Ye Jianying and other state leaders visited the aquarium, and also received domestic and foreign leaders such as Kim Il Sung, Nixon, and Ho Chi Minh.
