The hemispherical building on the waterfront of Tsim Sha Tsui is the space museum. As its name suggests, it is a museum of astronomy and space science. It is divided into East and West wings. The dome of the east wing is the core of the space museum, including the astronomical hall, the space science exhibition hall, and the most worthy space hall, namely the sky screen film, as well as a number of production workshops. The west wing is equipped with an astronomical exhibition hall, a lecture hall and an astronomical bookstore. The Hong Kong Space Museum broadcast astronomy programs every day and has a special exhibition on astronomy.
Hong Kong Space Museum
The Hong Kong Space Museum is one of the museums of the Hong Kong leisure and Cultural Services Department, covering an area of 8000 square meters. It opened on October 8, 1980. From time to time, the space museum holds various astronomical exhibitions and lectures, which are also open to schools, groups and the public. It has an egg shaped shell building. The unique egg shaped shell of the Space Museum has long been a landmark of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The egg shaped space museum has a hemispherical screen. The star image projector is the most advanced instrument in Asia. Its images can make people feel the depth of the universe.

The Museum of astronomy is one of the most advanced space science museums in the world.
The museum is divided into East and West wings. The egg shaped east wing is the core of the space museum, which is equipped with the astronomical hall, space science exhibition hall, all Sky movie projection room, a number of production workshops and offices; the west wing is equipped with the astronomical exhibition hall, lecture hall, astronomical bookstore and office. Each venue has some exhibits related to space science.
Astronomical hall, the first all sky film projection equipment in the eastern hemisphere.
The hall is equipped with a hemispherical screen with a diameter of 23 meters, which regularly changes and broadcasts all sky movies and astronomical programs every day. Every year, the Hong Kong Space Museum will produce two multi-media astronomical programs, and select excellent foreign all sky movies to broadcast in the museum.
Functions of exhibition hall
Hong Kong Space Museum is one of the famous planetariums in Asia. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong. Construction started in 1977 and completed in 1980. It covers an area of about 8000 square meters. The museum is divided into East and west sides, the east side looks like a huge egg, with a space hall and exhibition hall; the west side is the solar science hall. Tianxiang hall is one of the largest Tianxiang hall in the world with a canopy diameter of 23 meters and 315 seats. The star projector can project more than 8000 stars, including the sun, the moon and five planets to the sky. The hall is also equipped with a very innovative all sky projector, which was first used in Asia. The six channel sound system in the hall has dozens of loudspeakers with excellent effect.
1. The exhibition hall introduces ancient astronomy and modern astronomy. Ancient astronomy shows the records of Chinese astronomers observing the supernova explosion in Taurus in 1054, which is known as the treasure of high-energy astrophysics and precious data for the study of celestial bodies. There are also ancient astronomical relics in the west, such as the stone pillars in England, the pyramids in Egypt, the Nasca plain in Peru, the Dunhuang star map and various ancient astronomical instruments. In the exhibition of modern astronomy, in addition to the contents of general astronomical phenomena, it also introduces the history of rocket development and modern space exploration technology, and lists the models of space shuttle and spaceship capsule Pioneer 10.
2. There are 12 groups of exhibitions around the theme of the sun in the solar science hall, which introduce the structure of the sun, various phenomena of the sun and the research history of the sun. A 20 cm solar telescope is installed in the hall to see the corona, prominence, chromosphere and photosphere of the sun. The hall encourages the audience to operate some instruments by themselves. The museum also cooperates with various cultural organizations in Hong Kong to organize astronomical activities and popularize astronomical knowledge.

The space Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum is located in the egg shaped building, which is one of the most important parts of the museum. It is one of the largest astronomical halls in the world. It is the first all sky film projection equipment in the eastern hemisphere. It is also the first astronomical museum with automatic astronomical program control system in the world. It was named as ho hung sun astronomical hall in 2004. Most of the programs are narrated in Cantonese and some of the shows are narrated in English. The audience can use the earphones in the astronomical hall to choose Cantonese, English, Putonghua or Japanese side narration.
In 1995, the interactive system of film and audience was installed in the space hall. The system elects the development of film through audience voting.

background knowledge
In 1957, the Soviet Union launched its first man-made satellite, which attracted many people's attention to astronomy. In 1961, the Hong Kong government proposed to build a planetarium in Victoria Park, but it was not settled. It was not until 1974 that the plan of the planetarium was revived by the Hong Kong Urban Council. It cost HK $60 million to locate the waterfront near the old Tsim Sha Tsui railway station. As the meteorological department of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Observatory, has used the term "astronomy". To avoid confusion, the name of the Hong Kong planetarium was finally decided to be called the Hong Kong Space Museum.
The Hong Kong Space Museum, which opened in 1980, became the world's first computerized planetarium. The computerized astrometer in the astrology Hall of the space museum can simulate the actual astrological environment through the optical principle, and project stars hundreds of millions of light-years away onto the hemispherical screen of the astrology hall. In 2004, in order to thank Mr. ho for his donation of HK $20 million, the library decided to name the astronomical hall as Mr. Ho's astronomical hall. According to the data of 2005, the average annual number of visitors to the Hong Kong Space Museum is about 700000.

purpose
The "astronomy training program for secondary school students" is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Department of physics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Astronomical Society. The purpose of the program is to provide local secondary school students with the opportunity to receive more comprehensive astronomy training so as to cultivate and deepen their interest in natural science. On the other hand, we also hope that students participating in the project can give back what they have learned to their schools, and help promote astronomical activities in schools, so that more students can enjoy the fun. In order to achieve the above objectives, both theoretical and practical aspects will be taken into account, so that students can not only acquire knowledge and training in astronomy, but also develop the ability to deal with problems and organize activities independently.
project
Astronomy Park: an astronomy website established and managed by the Department of physics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, aims to develop into an online astronomy education support center in addition to providing general astronomy knowledge, news, pictures and multimedia astronomy materials. The notes of the astronomy training program for secondary school students can also be downloaded from astronomy park. Students participating in the "astronomy training program for middle school students" will automatically become "astronomy Garden Friends". After becoming members, they can not only express their opinions and exchange their experiences freely in the "free lecture room" in the astronomy garden, but also publish their works in the "enjoy with friends" and participate in various activities organized by the "astronomy garden".
In addition, the Hong Kong Space Museum's website will also contain background information, qualifications and methods of participation, as well as the latest news of the astronomy training program for secondary school students, so that the general public can know and understand the situation of the program. At the same time, the Hong Kong Space Museum is setting up an astronomy education resource center in the museum, hoping to further provide substantial support for astronomy education for the local academic community.
