Gao Yuesong's ancestral home is Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. He took part in the imperial examination in the 10th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty and was awarded the title by the emperor. From the 14th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty to the 10th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, seven generations of Gaojia were officials.

In 1999, the former residence was listed as the "key historical district protection project of China and Norway", and was renovated with Norwegian investment, and won the "2002 UNESCO Asia Pacific Cultural Heritage Protection Award".
In 2003, the Art Department of Gao Yuesong's former residence in Xi'an was responsible for the most perfect maintenance and expansion of his former residence. As the second batch of key cultural relics protection units in Xi'an, the former residence is listed as the Department of architecture of tronm University in Norway, the postgraduate teaching base of the Department of architecture of Xi'an University of architecture and technology, and the research base of the Institute of cultural name of Gao Yuesong's former residence in Chang'an University.
There are the following projects in the residential building No. 144 of Beiyuanmen in Xi'an: architectural art of Ming and Qing Dynasties, ancient furniture, couplets of traditional residential buildings, brick carving art; teahouse, folk paper cutting, shadow play, guzheng performance, celebrity calligraphy and painting, fine Chinese painting, old photos, porcelain and tourist souvenirs with Shaanxi characteristics. Over the years, with the strong support of the government and the help of international friends, No. 144 residential building in Beiyuanmen has been completely restored. In line with the purpose of carrying forward the traditional Chinese folk architectural art, we sincerely welcome friends from home and abroad to visit and participate in the construction of our former residence, and can put forward better suggestions for expansion and management.
