Yunnan University for Nationalities

Yunnan University for nationalities, formerly known as Yunnan University for nationalities, was founded on August 1, 1951. It is one of the earliest Ethnic Universities in the people's Republic of China.

On May 1, 1955, Premier Zhou Enlai and marshal Chen Yi, who attended the Bandung Conference and successfully returned to China via Kunming, accompanied by governor Guo Yingqiu of Yunnan Province, went to the college to celebrate the May Day with teachers and students of all nationalities, and visited the auditorium, classrooms and student dormitories.

In August 1956, Yunnan Institute of ethnic minorities was established. On February 6, Peng Dehuai, vice premier of the State Council and Minister of national defense, inspected Yunnan University for nationalities.

 

On July 14, 1958, with the approval of Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the former Party group of Yunnan Institute for Nationalities of the Communist Party of China was abolished and the Committee of Yunnan Institute for Nationalities of the Communist Party of China was established, which was directly under the leadership of the Provincial Committee.

In March 1972, after the restoration of Yunnan University for nationalities, it was listed as an ordinary university and set up a two-year Chinese department and a political department. The Chinese Department has a Chinese major and the political department has a political major. Began to recruit the first "University ordinary class" students.

On June 10, 1972, the first school opening ceremony was held.

 

On March 17, 1973, the science and education group of the State Council issued a notice approving Yunnan University for Nationalities as an ordinary university.

 

In July 1978, with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Yunnan Institute of ethnic minorities was established. It was formally established in January 1979. It is a comprehensive academic institution for ethnic studies under the direct leadership of Yunnan University for Nationalities and Yunnan Academy of social sciences.

 

In 1979, it began to recruit and train graduate students.

In 1984, it became the second batch of units in China to obtain the right to confer master's degree.

 

On January 5, 1982, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education jointly issued a notice announcing the list of the first 458 universities approved by the State Council with the right to confer bachelor's degrees in China, including 9 universities for nationalities, of which Yunnan University for nationalities is one.

 

On May 28, 2003, the Preparatory Department of the University changed its name to the College of preparatory education.

Yunnan University for Nationalities

On June 18, 2003, Yunnan University for Nationalities changed its name to Yunnan University for nationalities, and the unveiling ceremony of its name was held at the gate of its headquarters. In the same year, he and Renmin University of China jointly recruited and trained doctoral students in sociology. On July 31, higher vocational and Technical College changed its name to vocational and technical college.

 

In February 2013, Yunnan University for Nationalities passed the acceptance and became a doctoral degree awarding unit; in November of the same year, the graduate school was established.

 

In October 2015, the Yunnan Provincial People's government, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Education jointly built Yunnan University for nationalities.

 

In March 2017, Yunnan University for Nationalities and India Bianxi Yoga University jointly held the master's degree education project of national traditional sports (yoga), which was successfully approved by the Ministry of education. In September, it began to receive the application of master's degree education project of national traditional sports (yoga) from the whole country;

In September 2018, the first batch of graduate students majoring in yoga in China will apply for admission. This is also the first yoga master's degree authorization point in China.

 

In November 2019, "Yunnan tie dye inheritance base" of Yunnan University for nationalities was selected as the national excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance base of colleges and universities.

 

In June 2015, according to the arrangement of Yunnan University for nationalities, the original "College of culture of Yunnan University for Nationalities" was renamed "College of Applied Technology of Yunnan University for Nationalities"
