Shenzhen University is located in Nanshan peninsula of Shenzhen City, facing the back sea and facing Hong Kong. It is undulating by the mountains, with litchi trees and flowers flourishing. Historical evolution

In May 1983, Shenzhen University was officially approved by the State Council. In September, it was officially established and began teaching on September 27. In the early days of its establishment, Shenzhen University received assistance from universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Renmin University of China.

In August 1984, the campus of Shenzhen University was initially completed and put into use, and moved to the newly built campus in September.

In 1985, with the approval of No. 011 document issued by the Department of education and research of the former State Education Commission, Shenzhen University began to recruit postgraduates majoring in political economy (Special Economic Zone) and enterprise management. By 1988, it had recruited 19 Postgraduates of four terms.

In the summer of 1993, Jiang Zemin wrote the name of Shenzhen University.

On September 1, 1994, with the approval of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Municipal People's government, the former Shenzhen normal college was abolished and the normal college of Shenzhen University was established.

In 1995, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the State Education Commission.

In 1996, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, he was authorized with a master's degree.

In 1997, the college system was carried out, and the idea of running a school based on undergraduate education and actively developing postgraduate education was clarified.

In 2005, it was approved to become an authorized unit of Engineering Master's degree, adding two new engineering master training fields.

In 2006, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, he was granted the doctor's degree authorization. Shenzhen national biochemical engineering technology development center was incorporated into Shenzhen University as a whole. In the same year, he was selected into the National College Students' cultural quality education base.

In 2008, the university hospital project under construction was officially transferred to Shenzhen University by the Municipal Health Bureau.

In October 2009, Shenzhen University and Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd. jointly established the school of rail transit, relying on the construction, operation and management of the school of electromechanical and control engineering.

In 2010, it was approved by the Ministry of education and became an authorized unit for promoting and exempting students.

On January 21, 2013, the school of industrial design characteristics of Shenzhen University (Yantian) was officially opened in Yantian. On January 29, he was selected into the National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program.

In April, the school established the medical department of Shenzhen University.

On November 27, 2014, Shenzhen University officially issued a document to establish a graduate school. The golf College of Shenzhen University was merged into the normal college of Shenzhen University.

On December 28, 2015, ocean College of Shenzhen University settled in Shenzhen Shantou Special Cooperation Zone.

In 2016, the school of Applied Technology of Shenzhen university enrolled students for the first time. On July 6, the agreement on cooperation between Shenzhen University and Nanshan District Education Bureau was signed and the unveiling ceremony of the primary school affiliated to Shenzhen University was held. On September 29, Shenzhen Nante business school was inaugurated. On October 11, the University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of social sciences.

In 2017, the talent training and national conditions research base of Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences of Shenzhen University and the school of Marxism of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences cooperated to recruit doctoral candidates of "backbone talents of Marxist theory" to carry out cooperative training. On February 27, the school of materials, School of chemistry and environmental engineering, School of life and marine science and Department of medicine of Shenzhen University officially entered Xili campus of Shenzhen University, which was officially opened. In September, it was awarded the first civilized campus of Guangdong Province. In November, it was awarded the first national civilized campus. In December, Shenzhen University became a member of the University Alliance of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

On October 30, 2018, Shenzhen University and Sichuan University signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen. On November 13, the Guangdong Provincial Department of education, the provincial development and Reform Commission and the Provincial Department of science and technology jointly announced the list of universities and key disciplines to be built under the promotion plan of "striving for first class, making up for weaknesses and strengthening characteristics" in higher education. Shenzhen University has entered the list of key universities in Guangdong Province. On November 20, the school of public health of Shenzhen University was established. In December, Shenzhen University and Nanyang University of technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
