Hefei lakeside wetland forest park is located in DaZhangWei, Baohe District, Hefei City, Anhui Province, near the entrance of Nanfeihe River on the North Bank of Chaohu Lake. It is the first National Forest Park in China to be built after returning farmland to forest and ecological restoration. It creates a precedent for the successful promotion of plantation to National Forest Park.
Hefei lakeside Wetland Park was upgraded to a national forest park. It was officially listed on April 12, 2014, becoming the Fourth National Forest Park in Hefei after zipengshan National Forest Park, yefushan National Forest Park and Dashushan National Forest Park. It also makes Hefei the only provincial capital city with two national forest parks in the city.
In February 2016, according to the national standard of "classification and evaluation of quality grades of scenic spots" and "measures for the management of quality grades of scenic spots", recommended by the relevant municipal scenic spot quality rating agencies, Anhui scenic spot quality rating committee proposed to evaluate Hefei Binhu National Forest Park as a national 4A scenic spot.

Hefei lakeside wetland forest park is located in the southeast of the main urban area of Hefei. It is adjacent to Jiazi River in the north, Huanhu North Road in the south, Chaohu South Road in the west, Nanfei River in the East and 15 Li Henan north. The park covers an area of 1072 hectares, including 799 hectares of forest and 263 hectares of water area. It is the only 10000 mu urban water network forest in Anhui Province.

By the end of 2013, there were 281 species of plants in Hefei lakeside wetland forest park, forming a multi-level plant community system. Among them, the upper layer of the forest is dominated by tall poplar, supplemented by Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Ligustrum lucidum, slash pine, etc.; the middle layer is dominated by secondary Cinnamomum camphora, mulberry, Sapium sebiferum, etc.; the understory is composed of palm, hibiscus mutabilis, vines and other vegetation. The park has national first-class protected plants such as Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Davidia involucrata, Ginkgo biloba and other precious tree species, as well as aquatic plants such as zailihua, Iris germanica and lotus.

Scenic spots in Luzhou
Landscape Luzhou is located on the square at the main entrance of the park. The administrative division map of Hefei city is inlaid in the center of the square. Among them, Chaohu Lake is paved with lawns and planted with three big trees, namely camphor, celadon and Gleditsia sinensis, symbolizing the three islands of Chaohu Lake. Giant landscape stones stand in the northwest of the square. The whole square is a beautiful picture of Luzhou with the paper of Tiandi forest and the waterfall of stone mountain.
Forest Train
As a sightseeing project, the forest small train is about 6 km long and passes through 5 stations. The locomotive is driven by a simulated steam train with diesel fuel and the running speed is less than 10 km.
Cherry Valley Scenic Area
Cherry Valley is a landscape of Hefei lakeside wetland forest park, which is composed of more than 3000 cherry trees. In April 2014, the park launched the "appreciation of cherry trees" activity. Taking the "cherry trees" as the natural background, the four main forms of expression are piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. The four interactive activities are "appreciation of cherry trees and playing the piano", "endless chess music", "book with cherry language" and "Cherry posture in ink".
Development and construction
In 2002, for the purpose of ecological restoration and construction, Baohe District carried out the conversion of farmland to forest and widely planted poplar and other tree species.
In 2008, Binhu Park was approved as a provincial forest park.
In October 2012, the first phase of the park was opened to the public, and in May 2013, the second phase of the park was opened to the public.
In December 2013, Binhu Park was rated as National Forest Park.
In April 2014, Hefei Binhu National Forest Park was officially opened.
