Restoration site
Located in Weixin village, Shuangfeng town, Taicang City, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, the renovation site is a Liangzhu and Maqiao cultural site. The central area of the renovation site is about 10000 square meters, with a total area of about 60000 square meters. The site is divided into North and south areas. The Maqiao cultural relics unearthed in the South excavation area include pottery pieces, earth wells and a large number of burnt earth deposits; the Maqiao cultural relics unearthed in the North excavation area include concave round bottom pots and feet. The Liangzhu Cultural relics include the relic of round foot plate, high collar pot, dingzu, Douba, Yu, Yu and a piece of colored pottery. In addition, stone tools such as Li Shi and arrowheads were unearthed.

The discovery of the renovation site fills in the blank of Taicang primitive culture, dates the history of Taicang to 4500 years ago, and is known as the "root of Taicang"; it provides a very important new basis for understanding the connotation and distribution of Liangzhu and Maqiao culture; it also provides new information for studying the historical development of Taicang and the whole lower reaches of the Yangtze River, It greatly enriched the historical and cultural connotation of Taicang.
In December 2011, Taicang restoration site was listed as the seventh batch of cultural relics protection units in Jiangsu Province.

On May 21, 2003, an ancient tomb of Ming Dynasty was excavated from Jiajia tomb in Weixin village, Shuangfeng town, Taicang City, Jiangsu Province. When it was cleaned up by Suzhou Museum, Taicang City Management Office and Taicang City Museum, more than one meter thick red burnt earth and impression pottery pots were accidentally found. After more than one month's excavation, the remains of Maqiao culture and Liangzhu culture were found here and in the surrounding land, According to experts, the site belongs to Maqiao culture and Liangzhu culture, and is named Taicang restoration site.

In order to protect this precious cultural heritage, the municipal government built "Taicang renovation site exhibition hall" here in 2006, with a total investment of 4.5 million yuan and a main building area of 630 square meters. It has become a heritage park, with office buildings on both sides of the entrance. In the center stands the "root of Taicang" boulder. In the north is the "exhibition hall of restoration sites". In the northeast is the on-site excavation experience room. In the west is the outdoor exhibition area for farming, fishing and hunting. In the East is the excavation and settlement exhibition area. The main exhibition hall is divided into three exhibition halls to display the process of land and sea changes in Taicang, the excavation, protection and unearthed achievements of the restoration sites, as well as the characteristics and connotation of Maqiao culture and Liangzhu culture. The sites are all original buildings of pole column type, showing the living scenes of primitive human beings, simple and natural. The site is covered with trees and has a beautiful environment. The exhibition hall was officially opened to the outside world in 2007 and has become the moral education base of Taicang City.
