Longqing Gorge

Longqing gorge is located at the mouth of Gucheng village, 10 kilometers northeast of Yanqing County, 85 kilometers northwest of Beijing. Longqing gorge combines the charm of the southern landscape with the power of the northern landscape. It is known as the "little Lijiang River" in Beijing for its zigzag gorge, green river, steep cliffs on both sides and dense karst caves, stalagmites and stone pillars. In spring and summer, people come here for swimming and outing; in winter, it is a sea of ice lanterns.

There is a reinforced concrete dam at the mouth of the valley of Longqing gorge. When the water is full, it flows out from the spillway of the side hole and flies straight down, forming a spectacular waterfall. The valley has beautiful scenery. The cliffs are covered with peculiar limestone. According to the shape, they are named Zhenshan Tathagata, Shixiong Tiaoyan, Jiulian cave, Jiguan mountain, Jingang mountain, matitan, Jiangjun rock, etc. all of them are lifelike. Take a boat in the scenic spot and walk through the gorge to experience the nature's craftsmanship. In midsummer, Longqingxia has fresh air and cool climate. The average temperature is about 6 degrees lower than that in Beijing. It is a perfect place for summer vacation.

The winter climate of Longqingxia is cold and the freezing period is long. Taking advantage of this unique natural condition, Longqingxia scenic area holds an ice lantern art festival every winter. Since 1987, Longqingxia ice lantern art exhibition has become a traditional project of winter tourism in Beijing. The ice lantern exhibition is located under the Longqingxia Dam between the two mountains. The huge ice waterfall naturally falling from the dam is the beautiful background of the ice lantern exhibition. During the ice lantern exhibition, the valley is full of bright lights and colorful ice and snow sculptures.

Longqing gorge not only has beautiful natural scenery, but also has matching amusement facilities. Stepping into the mouth of the canyon, a 258 meter long dragon hangs from the top and bottom of the cliff with flying whiskers. In fact, it is known as the first dragon elevator in Asia. You can take the elevator directly to the cruise terminal near Baihua cave. There is also a thrilling double slide in the scenic area, which can slide from Baihua cave to Cuidao in the middle of the lake. You can take a cableway near Baihua cave to the fairy house in the middle of the mountain. In addition, there are rock climbing field, ice climbing base, bungee jumping, parachute and other exciting projects in the scenic area, where extreme sports lovers can find their own happiness.

Longqing Gorge

Longqing gorge is located in Gucheng village, 10 km northeast of Yanqing District, Beijing, and 85 km northwest of Gucheng estuary. Longqingxia, known as "Jiuqu of the ancient city" in ancient times, is known as the "little Lijiang River" of Beijing and one of the 16 scenic spots in Beijing. Its water source comes from the eastern foot of Haituo and flows into Gucheng reservoir through Yudu mountain.

Yanqing's Longqing gorge has steep mountains and clear waters. The seven kilometer long gorge has both the beauty of the South and the grandeur of the north. It is open and deep, sometimes steep and shoal coexist. The fairy temple, King Kong temple, Yuquan Pavilion, shenbi peak and other strange mountains and scenery are more like fairyland. In winter, it becomes the world of ice sculpture and ice lantern. The annual Ice Lantern Festival attracts many guests from all over the world.

On the evening of February 8, 2019, several tourists were injured in the fall of mountain debris in Longqingxia ice lantern exhibition area of Yanqing. One person died and 12 were injured.

Introduction to scenic spots

The name of "Longqingxia" comes from the title of "longqingzhou" in Yanqing of Ming Dynasty. Known as the "little Lijiang River" in Beijing, it can be called "a unique place outside the Great Wall".

The towering dam of Longqingxia reservoir is connected with two mountains, with a width of 40-50 meters. The dam is like a huge white lock to lock the water dragon. The two mountains in the East and the west stand upright, with a height of dozens of feet.

When you cross the river by boat, you feel like "the mountains are heavy and the waters are clear, there is no way out, the willows are dark and the flowers are bright". It is not only magnificent outside the Great Wall, but also beautiful in the south of the Yangtze River, comparable to the Lijiang River in Guilin and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. It is one of the sixteen scenic spots in Beijing. The scenic spot combines the charm and beauty of the southern landscape with the grandeur and magnificence of the northern landscape. The exposed limestone forms a peculiar shape, which is very similar to the Lijiang mountain stone. Only when you look up at the peak, you feel the grandeur and precipitousness of the northern peak cliff. "Xiajiang Shili" is an important landscape of Longqing gorge. From Hekou dam to Sancha River, there is a 7-mile-long gorge. The mountains on both sides are not high, but very dangerous. The wall is almost perpendicular to the river. The river varies from wide to narrow, about 50 meters wide and less than 10 meters narrow. It is extremely winding. Each twists and turns has its own scenery, and is accompanied by Beautiful myths and legends, such as matitan, Shibapan, zaoqianlu, Sanchahe, Jinluan hall, and so on. Along the lake, Duxiu Peak (Jiguan mountain), Jingang mountain (Shuangjian cliff), shenbi peak, dongdazhai, xiddazhai and other peaks line up, reflecting into the water. This scene is one of the eight scenic spots in Yanzhou.

Longqingxia is a rock climbing and ice climbing training base of China Mountaineering Association. It has successfully held the seventh "Longqingxia Cup" national Rock Climbing Championship.

You can go down the mountain through the 300 meter long baihuaxian cave and watch the scenery of the four seasons. You can also take the Forster slide across the mouth of the valley to return to reality from fairyland without danger.

In 1991, in order to develop into a modern tourist area, the scenic area added some amusement items, such as "magic world", "bumper car", "no screen cinema", etc.

Since 1987, the annual Ice Lantern Festival has been held in Longqingxia every winter. The ice lantern in Longqing gorge has its own characteristics. Zhenshan Tathagata

In the middle of the mountain, there is a huge stone protruding and precipitous. It stands towering and looks like the profile of the Buddha. It gives people a sense of solemnity and solemnity, so it is named "Zhenshan Tathagata".

Jiguanshan

Also known as Duxiu Peak, Fengguan island. Surrounded by water on three sides, one peak is alone. It is about 70 meters from the top of the mountain to the surface of the water. From the front, it looks like a rooster lying. It is a landmark landscape of Longqing gorge.

King Kong Temple

There are two mountains in front of the King Kong temple. They walk like King Kong, so they are named. The temple was originally the taixuandao Palace on Zhenda road in the Yuan Dynasty. It was destroyed after the death of the Yuan Dynasty, and the monks built the King Kong temple here. It was destroyed at the beginning of liberation. In 1987, Chinese American Ms. Liu Xuee donated 100000 yuan for reconstruction.

Fairyland

There is a small hill named Yuhuangding beside the reservoir, which is located at the highest peak of the scenic spot, more than 200 meters away from the water. A fairy house is built in the middle of the mountain, a Yuhuangmiao temple is built on the top of the mountain, and there is a cable car to reach it. Both temples were built in the Ming Dynasty, and the Yuhuang temple was damaged, with only one stele. It was destroyed before liberation and reopened in May 1992. In front of the gate of the fairy house, there is an ancient pine over 300 years old, 24.7 meters high, about 0.6 meters diameter at breast height, about 300 years old. At the back of the temple, there is a "God basin" 4 meters long, 3.4 meters wide and 1 meter deep. The water in the basin is clear and sweet, and it can be drunk for a long time.
