Sichuan Agricultural University (Ya'an campus headquarters)

Sichuan Agricultural University is a national "211 Project" key construction university and a national "double first-class" construction university with the characteristics of biotechnology and the advantages of agricultural science and technology. It is also an excellent university for undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education. It has a long history and rich resources. Its predecessor was Sichuan Tongsheng agricultural school founded in 1906. Since then, it has gone through many historical development stages, such as Sichuan Higher Agricultural School (1912), Sichuan public agricultural special school (1914), School of Agricultural Sciences of public Sichuan University (1927), Sichuan Provincial Agricultural College (1932), Agricultural College of national Sichuan University (1935), Agricultural College of Sichuan University (1950). In 1956, the Agricultural College of Sichuan University moved to Ya'an, the former capital of Xikang province (abolished in 1955), and was established as Sichuan Agricultural College independently. In 1985, it was renamed as Sichuan Agricultural University. In 2001, Sichuan forestry school was merged into Sichuan Agricultural University. At present, the school has three campuses, Ya'an, Chengdu and Dujiangyan, covering a total area of 4500 mu and collecting 11.6589 million volumes of literature resources.

The subjects are complete and distinctive. At present, there are 26 colleges, 15 research institutes (centers) and 1 State Key Laboratory (Preparatory), covering 10 university disciplines of Agronomy, science, engineering, economics, management, medicine, literature, education, law and art. There are 7 mobile stations for postdoctoral research, 11 first-class disciplines and 48 second-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 18 first-class disciplines and 87 second-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 8 categories of professional degree, 91 undergraduate disciplines, 4 national key disciplines and key cultivation disciplines, and 19 provincial key disciplines. In 2005, the University was identified as one of the 40 key universities in the national aid discipline construction plan. According to the comprehensive score of the fourth round of national discipline evaluation results in 2017, the University ranked 7th and 4th among the national agricultural and forestry universities and Sichuan universities respectively. Since 2015, the ESI ranking of agricultural science, botany and zoology has remained stable, maintaining the top 1% in the world. Animal nutrition and feeding Science in 2017 and Crop Science in 2018 were selected into the National University Discipline Innovation Plan (111 plan).

There are a lot of teachers and famous teachers. The education system is complete and the conditions are excellent. With a complete education system for bachelor, master and doctor, it is one of the first batch of universities to resume Recruiting Graduate Students after the "Cultural Revolution". At present, there are more than 44000 full-time students on campus, including more than 38000 undergraduates and nearly 6000 master and doctoral students. It has won 102 teaching achievement awards at or above the provincial level, including 3 national first prizes, 8 second prizes and 27 provincial first prizes. There are 5 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations and 6 nominations. The university is one of the Pilot Universities of national independent selection and admission reform, one of the first batch of 50 universities with typical employment experience for graduates, one of the 50 universities with typical innovation and entrepreneurship experience, and one of the first batch of 6 universities with innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration clubs for college students in the whole Province.

The scientific research achievements are abundant and the benefits are remarkable. It has won more than 700 awards for scientific and technological achievements at or above the Ministry and provincial level, including 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes for national technological invention, 1 second prize for National Natural Science, 18 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress, and 3 special prizes and 57 first prizes for scientific and technological progress of Sichuan Province. About 70% of the award-winning achievements have been promoted and transformed, creating more than 100 billion yuan of social and economic benefits. He has successively published high-level papers in the top international academic journals cell and science. The university is also one of the first 10 universities to establish the New Rural Development Research Institute in 2012.

Foreign exchanges are extensive and diverse. We have established exchanges and cooperation with more than 60 scientific research institutes in more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The university is one of the first batch of 200 universities that have the conditions to accept foreign students in China, and it is also a university that has signed the contract for the public postgraduate project of national construction of high-level universities.

The construction and development of the school has received the cordial care of the party and state leaders. In April 1991 and May 2002, Comrade Jiang Zemin visited the university twice and expressed his appreciation for the achievements made in teaching and scientific research. In January 2002, Comrade Wen Jiabao pointed out that "the spirit of Sichuan Agricultural University" should be summarized, publicized and carried forward. In October 2007, Comrade Wen Jiabao once again pointed out that Sichuan Agricultural University has made great achievements in its work, and its experience in running a school is worthy of attention.
