Jiqing gate is one of the new city gates in Nanjing. There was no Jiqing gate in Nanjing history. In 1991, in order to connect with Zhonghua Road and widen Jiqing Road, the gate was opened on the ancient city wall. It was named Jiqing gate because it was at the top of Jiqing road.

Jiqingmen is the back gate of the Ming City Wall in Nanjing. It was opened in 1991. It is located in the southwest section of the Ming City Wall in Qinhuai District of Nanjing, south of Shuiximen and east of the moat at the east end of Jiqingmen street. Design style
Professor Pan Guxi, who was specially invited at that time, took into account the traffic needs, and at the same time, compared with the city gate built in the Ming Dynasty in Nanjing and the city gate opened after the Republic of China, he designed the four hole square city gate in the style of "lintel" in the Song Dynasty. It is very different from other ancient city gates in order to distinguish them.
