Former residence of Liu Mingchuan
Liu Mingchuan's former residence, also known as Liu Mingchuan's former residence, Liu Laoxu, and the memorial hall of Liu Mingchuan's former residence in Feixi County, is located 2 kilometers away from the north foot of daqianshan, the highest peak in Zipeng Mountain area, Feixi County, Hefei City, Anhui Province
It is the former residence of Huaijun General Liu Mingchuan.
Liu Mingchuan's former residence, covering an area of about 70000 square meters, was built in 1868. It is a Jianghuai manor building surrounded by two walls and two moats.
In 2004, it was selected as the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units; on September 24, 2015, it was officially opened to the public.
Evolution of construction
Founded in 1868, it was built when Liu Mingchuan returned home for the second time.
From 1871 to 1884, Liu Mingchuan resigned and lived in seclusion here.
Liu's descendants lived here until 1950. In 1950, Liu Su, the great grandson of Liu Mingchuan, dedicated Liu Laoxu to the East China military region, and later handed it over to the Anhui military region for management.
In 2004, Anhui military region handed Liu laowei back to the local government for management.
Liu Mingchuan's former residence, with hundreds of houses, was a large-scale private polder house in the suburbs of Hefei at that time. Most of the original buildings do not exist now. The former residence is surrounded by Magnolia grandiflora planted by Liu Mingchuan himself. Although it has gone through a hundred years of vicissitudes, it is still tall, straight and fragrant. It is said that Magnolia grandiflora was given to Huaijun by Empress Dowager Cixi. Later, it was brought back to Hefei by Huaijun generals such as Liu Mingchuan for planting.
On February 14, 2016, Feixi County held a work retreat, striving to start the construction of 4A scenic spot of Liu Mingchuan's former residence within this year.
Cultural relics
There are two deep trenches inside and outside, and the water in the trench is Jinhe water from the buried hill. The surrounding walls are made of stone, on which there are five blockhouses. The former residence of Waihao southeast, northeast corner of each built a large suspension bridge (has been converted into a stone bridge). Each bridge has two floors and seven gatehouses. In the old days, there were soldiers protecting the polder.
If you cross the outer suspension bridge and enter the polder, you will find the inner trench, then the suspension bridge and the gate tower. Entering the inner moat is the inner residence of Liu Mingchuan's family. The main hall has three entrances, each of which has 13 rooms. The courtyard between the first entrance and the second entrance is the cloister box. The third entrance is a two-story hall building, mainly for women's families. The main gate of the main hall faces the crescent pond in the outer ditch. The inner chord of the two sharp corners of the crescent pond is a rectangular lotus pond with a flower bed in it.
The southwest corner of the main hall is a western style building with three rooms and two floors. It's small and exquisite. There are books upstairs and people downstairs. In the north of the main hall, there is a "steel fork building" with two floors and five rooms. It is said that there is a "tiger hole" on the side of the buried hill opposite the former residence, so a "steel fork building" is specially built to "suppress evil spirits and town polders".
"Pan Ting" was specially built by Liu Mingchuan for displaying the national treasure "Guo Jizi BaiPan". Located in the back of "steel fork building", it is surrounded by water, only a stone bridge can be connected. In January 1950, Liu suzeng, the great grandson of Liu Mingchuan, personally escorted the plate to Beijing and dedicated the "white plate of Guo Jizi" to the country. Since then, this "guojizi white plate" has been kept in the Chinese history museum.
The nine rooms on the north side of "panting" is the place where Liu Mingchuan entertained guests and met friends at home. There is a bawangdun in the northwest of the former residence, which is a site of ancient human; there is a big weir in the southeast of the former residence, which is a large water surface formed by burning bricks and tiles for the construction of the former residence. There are two small islands in the weir. The smaller island, just behind the nine rooms, used to be Liu Mingchuan's ammunition depot. On the big island is a reading Pavilion, only a trestle connected with the outside.
