A mass grave
State key cultural relics protection units
It is a cultural relic protection unit in Jilin Province. It is located in Dongshan, Mengjia village, Fengman District, 25 kilometers south of Jilin City. There are three natural gullies more than 100 meters long, 6 meters wide and 4 meters deep, which bury the bones of thousands of workers who built the Fengman Hydropower Station during the Japanese occupation, so they are called "mass graves".
[Fengman mass grave] Fengman dam was built in 1937 and power generation was completed in 1942. Due to the extremely poor working and living conditions and the brutal rule of Japanese fascism, all the workers who died of illness, starvation, freezing and exhaustion, and were tortured and persecuted by various inhuman criminal laws were thrown into the gully of mengjiadong mountain. Most of these workers were young adults recruited, arrested and cheated by the Japanese puppets from all over the pass (mainly Shandong and Hebei provinces) from 1937 to 1941, with a total number of about 110000. In order to cover up their fascist crimes, the Japanese aggressors built a so-called "comfort tower" in the east of the Fengman River on May 30, 1941. The act of deceiving the world is intended to cover up. In 1963, Fengman Power Plant built a simple corpse exhibition hall in the "mass grave". In 1964, it built a labor Memorial. In 1971, it was built here by Jilin Federation of trade unions and Jilin Municipal Bureau of culture. "Fengman wanrenkeng site" is the evidence of Japanese imperialism's invasion of China.
