Taichung Art Museum (also known as "Taiwan Art Museum") is one of the most important art museums in Taiwan and the only public art museum in China and Taiwan. Taiwan Art Museum
Taiwan Art Museum, also known as Taichung Art Museum, is located at No.2, Section 1, Wuquan West Road, Western District, Taichung City, Taiwan. It is one of the most important art museums in Taiwan and the only public art museum in Central Taiwan. Taiwan Museum of art, formerly known as "Taiwan Provincial Museum of art", was originally subordinate to the Taiwan provincial government. It opened in 1988 and became a member of the Cultural Construction Committee of the Taiwan administrative body in 1999.

The Taiwan Museum of art in Park 6, formerly known as the Taiwan Provincial Museum of art, is surrounded by a large area of green space. Taiwan Art Museum covers an area of about 9630 square meters. It is a building with three floors above the ground and one floor below the ground. Its internal planning includes research, exhibition, collection, promotion, information center, speech audio-visual, administrative office and other departments. Among them, there are 18 exhibition rooms, an art street about 100 meters long and an art square about 800 square meters long. In addition to the general exhibition space, the museum also has two special exhibition rooms for laser art, light art, power art, video art and computer art, making the exhibition theme more comprehensive and diverse.
The collection room of the museum is mainly composed of the works of late artists, as well as the works of Taiwan artists and contemporary artists in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including traditional Chinese paintings, western paintings and artifacts. The information center of the museum collects domestic and foreign art pictures, films, tapes, slides and artists' information for research reference. It is an open exhibition art street and Art Square with cultural relics supply Department, cafe and so on, both enjoy the exhibition and rest function.

Historical summary
The former Taiwan Provincial Museum of fine arts opened in June 1988. After the province was frozen in July 1999, the Provincial Museum of fine arts was transformed into a cultural institution under the jurisdiction of the Cultural Construction Committee, an administrative organ in Taiwan. In August 1998, due to the renovation of the museum, the closing ceremony was held, and the blasting artist Cai Guoqiang's "no break, no stand" was used to detonate the exhibition. In September 1999, the main building of Gome pavilion was damaged due to the 921 earthquake. It was closed, renovated and re planned, and reopened on July 3, 2004.
Successive curators
December 1986: the Taiwan Provincial Museum of art was officially established. Liu Yuhe, the former director of the preparatory office, was appointed as the first curator.
January 1996: Liu Yuhe retired at the age of 40 and was appointed by Huang guohan, a special member of the Education Department of Taiwan.
August 1997: the second curator Ni Zaiqin took office.
October 2000: Ni Zaiqin left office and was appointed as the acting curator by Li Wukun, a special member of the Cultural Construction Committee of the Taiwan administrative agency.
July 2001: Li Wukun, acting curator, became the third curator.
November 2004: Li Wukun left his post and was represented by Xiao Mingxiang, deputy director of the library.
July 2005: Lin Zhengyi, the fourth curator, took office.
July 2006: Professor Xue Baoxia, Dean of Tainan University of the arts, took up the post of Lin Zhengyi.
