Guangan White Pagoda
Guangan White Pagoda, also known as the "relic" pagoda, was built during the period from Chunxi to Jiading (1174-1224 A.D.) in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is located on the side of Qujiang deaf beach, 2km south of Guang'an City. It is square and 36.7m high. The tower is of brick and stone structure, imitating the wooden pavilion style building, with a total of 9 floors. The first to fifth floor is stone structure, the sixth to ninth floor is square brick structure, and the color mounting is three. The tower is hollow, and there are stairs between the layers, which can reach the top of the tower. Without tower brake, the top is connected with four sides. There are 88 stone Buddha statues on both sides of the tower doors on the 1st to 4th floors. On the riverside of the second generation, there are eight characters: "Tathagata, Xuxiang, relic pagoda". The pagoda faces the opposite Kuixing pagoda from afar, "looking up at the distance, showing the cloud watch.".
brief introduction
"White Pagoda and cloud" ranks first among the 16 scenic spots in the old annals of Guang'an. Wu zhonglong of the Ming Dynasty praised: "the floating picture is towering and connected with the sky, and the plain shadow reflects the green flow layer by layer. The bamboo path slants through the ancient temple, and the willows gently brush the fishing boat. In the distance, the battlements are heavy and the clouds are close together, overlooking the front line of Qujiang River. Yaqian man-made support to the earth, majestic writing strong for thousands of years.
On July 7, 1980, the White Pagoda of Guang'an was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit.
In April 2013, Guangan white pagoda was selected as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Due to the age-old, hot and humid weather in Guang'an, the body of the White Pagoda in Guang'an is seriously damaged, and the base of the pagoda has been protruded, which is in great danger. The Bureau of culture, broadcasting and information of Guang'an District said that the protection work has been started, and a white pagoda Park will be built with the white pagoda as the center.
legend
During the spring and Autumn period, Lu Ban and his apprentice Zhao Qiaoer built pagodas and built pavilions all the way to Sichuan. When he arrived in Guang'an, Zhao Qiaoer, who thought he was smart and capable, gradually became arrogant and disobeyed Master Lu Ban's discipline. Once, the apprentice bet with the master that he would build a building on both sides of the Qujiang River in one night. The master would build the white tower, and the apprentice would build the Kui Pavilion across the river. When the rooster crows, he will see who can build it. Zhao Qiaoer chooses wood as building materials for his light-weight drawing, while the master chooses masonry materials. Even so, he is still not as fast as master Luban. When Kuige was built to the fifth floor, the white tower was already on the ninth floor. So Zhao Qiaoer had a plan to learn to crow. Luban heard the rooster crow and thought it was the rooster crowing, so he grabbed a handful of weeds to cover the top of the tower. Therefore, the white tower originally planned to be built to 12 floors only has nine floors, but now the top of the white tower is still covered with luxuriant weeds.
historical facts
According to textual research, during the period from Chunxi to Jiading of the Southern Song Dynasty (1174-1224 AD), shipcapsized and other disasters often occurred near the deaf beach on the Qujiang River. People thought it was caused by floods, so an Bing, then the Grand Master of Zizheng hall, built the White Pagoda here and made many Buddha statues in the pagoda to prevent floods. The sixth floor of the pagoda is also engraved with the words "Tathagata, Xuxiang, relic pagoda" on the riverside side. Data show that the tower faces north from south, 33.6 meters high and 8.45 meters long at the bottom. It is a brick and stone structure with four sides and nine levels of pavilions. The first to fifth floors of the white tower are built with stones, and the sixth to ninth floors are built with bricks and stones. Although the upper and lower materials are different, the shape of each layer of the tower body is basically the same, gradually inward from top to bottom, making the whole tower harmonious and natural.

The upper and lower parts of the tower are made of different materials, but they are integrated. The white tower is more than 30 meters high. The first to fifth floor of the tower is a solid stone tower. There is no brick, but only white outside. All sides are made of imitation wood structure as leaning columns and sparrows. There is no railing. The sixth to ninth floors are hollow towers of brick structure, with red and white color mounting. The bricks are overlapped and overhanging to form a wood like structure. There are bucket arches supporting the eaves of the tower, and there is no flat seat. "Although the upper and lower materials are completely different and the colors are different, the shape of the four layers of the tower is basically the same, and the tower is gradually retracted from the bottom to the top, making the whole tower harmonious and natural."

Tower ladder, the organic combination of two different styles of stairs. The reporter saw that from the first floor to the fifth floor, the stairs were made of stone. From the first floor to the third floor, it is necessary to go up the ladder of the first floor to the flat seat of the second floor, turn 90 degrees to the flat seat on the other side of the tower, and enter the entrance of the second floor ladder to reach the flat seat of the third floor. So it goes up to the sixth level. But from the sixth floor up, the stairs are built with brick, spiral up along the inner wall of the tower, hollow, no tower core column. It's very rare in the whole country.

Tamen, it's hard to tell the true from the false. The reporter found that each side of the first to fifth floors has a ticket door, and the height and width of the door become smaller layer by layer from bottom to top. Interestingly, every other floor, the entrance is the same. The South Gate on the first floor is the entrance and exit, and the other gates are false doors; the north gate on the second floor is the exit, the east gate is the entrance, and the south gate and the west gate are false doors; the west gate on the third floor is the exit, the South gate is the entrance, and the north gate and the east gate are false doors; the fourth floor is the same as the second floor, and the fifth floor is the same as the third floor. Because the true and false doors are exactly the same in shape, it is difficult to see which is the true door and which is the false door.

Tower decoration, the same style but different content. According to Wang Chengping, the doors on the first to fifth floors are decorated with elephant heads and sparrows, but each elephant head has a different expression and expression. 1、 Each surface of the fifth floor is basically plain, and each surface of the second, third and fourth floors is decorated with Buddha. On one side of the second floor facing the river, there are eight characters: "Tathagata, Xuxiang, relic pagoda". The through-hole of each layer is placed beside the bucket arch, but the orientation is different, so the design is very ingenious. From the bottom to the top, the tower decoration constitutes a complete battle scene of "suppressing monsters and subduing demons".
Wuqi
Tower location, the base of the tower has never been flooded. The reporter learned that although the white tower stands on the edge of the Qujiang River, which is less than 100 meters horizontally from the center of the Qujiang River and less than 20 meters vertically above the normal water level of the Qujiang River, according to the hydrological historical data of Guang'an, the foundation of the white tower has never been submerged by floods. "But in this one hundred years of extraordinary floods, white tower is not immune after all."
