Qiyan Temple Pagoda
Qiyan temple tower is on the top of Zhongtiao Mountain, 20 kilometers southwest of Yongji County, Shanxi Province. Qiyan Temple Pagoda was built in Jiande period of Northern Zhou Dynasty. It was originally named lingju temple. In the first year of Renshou of Sui Dynasty (601 AD), it was renamed today. In the same year, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty sent the house to thirty prefectures. He ordered that the pagoda be erected at the same time on October 15. This Qiyan Temple Pagoda is one of them.

During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the temple was in great prosperity. After the Song Dynasty, it was repaired many times. There were three temples at the top, the waist and the foot of the mountain. During the Anti Japanese War, the temple was destroyed. Only the stele of relic pagoda and 26 brick pagodas built in the second year of Renshou survived. Among them, there are one tower in Tang Dynasty, one in Five Dynasties and one in Song Dynasty, two in Yuan Dynasty and 21 in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Apart from the song pagoda, the rest are Buddhist pagodas. Therefore, the great Zen master tower was built in 754 ad. it is round and solid, with a total height of 8 meters. The base is about half of the tower body. A false door is set on the south side of the tower. The door leaf and the frame are engraved with smooth patterns, and the back is inlaid with a tower inscription. The stone pagoda of the Five Dynasties was built in the third year of Tongguang (925) of the Tang Dynasty. It is single-layer and 3.5 meters high. Octagonal plane, base corset carved rich. The body of the tower is hollow. Two statues of Vajra are carved on the south side of the tower, and the Sutra is carved on the side. The volume of the tower is small and the carving is beautiful. The Song Dynasty relic pagoda is of dense eaves type. It is hexagonal in the South and has five storeys. It is 1.7 meters high. The first storey is very high. It has an arched gate in the south. Under the eaves of the Qiyan Temple Pagoda, there are carved bucket arches and rafters flying. The eaves of more than two storeys are stacked. It is simple and solemn. Yuan Dynasty tower is a two-story, hexagonal plane, with a total height of 6 meters. The seat is Xumi type, with carved brackets under the eaves and false doors on the tower body. You can see the waves of the Yellow River from afar and the towers standing nearby, which is very ancient.
