Dongguan Museum
Dongguan museum is a local comprehensive museum and a national secondary Museum. The predecessor of Dongguan museum is Dongguan County Museum Library, which was completed in 1929. It is located in Dongguan People's Park. In 1959, the county Party committee funded the renovation of the old museum and established Dongguan County Museum. In 1994, the new Dongguan museum was built and opened to the outside world in xinfenlu Shubo square. The new Museum covers an area of 2700 square meters, a building area of 5800 square meters and an exhibition area of 3300 square meters.
As of 2015, Dongguan Museum has 9542 pieces (sets), including 18 pieces (sets) of first-class cultural relics, 85 pieces (sets) of second-class cultural relics and 977 pieces (sets) of third-class cultural relics. Among them, it is especially characterized by the collection of works of famous calligraphers and painters and schools in Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times in Guangdong, such as Julian, Juchao, Lingnan Painting School, Chinese Painting Research Association, etc.

In 2004, jin'aozhou tower was awarded as one of the eight cultural relics in Dongguan.
Historical evolution
Dongguan Museum, formerly known as Dongguan Museum Library, was founded in 1929.
In 1959, the county Party committee rebuilt the Dongguan County Museum on the site of the museum library.
In 1989, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government invested in the construction of the new building.
In 1994, the new museum was completed and officially opened to the public, becoming the only comprehensive museum in Dongguan.
In May 2009, Dongguan museum was rated as a national second-class Museum.
In 2012, Dongguan Museum carried out basic display transformation.
Exhibition Profile
overview
The audience open area of Dongguan museum includes basic exhibition area, special exhibition area and temporary exhibition area. The first floor is a temporary exhibition area; the second floor is a special exhibition area, where cultural relics are regularly displayed or various fine exhibitions are introduced; and the third floor is the basic exhibition area of ancient Dongguan.
The charm of ancient pagodas
Relying on the ancient pagoda, the exhibition displays about 60 pictures through the three parts of "jin'ao history", "jin'ao benefit" and "jin'ao water rhyme". In addition, it also displays a number of distinctive water folk cultural relics such as dragon boat head and wooden fish book in Dongguan in the 1960s, supplemented by multimedia means, and regularly plays relevant films of water folk customs to the audience.
Exhibition of inscriptions
The inscriptions on display here are collected from the cultural relics investigation and archaeological excavation in Dongguan over the years. They started in the Northern Song Dynasty and ended in the Republic of China, mainly in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including tombstones, epitaphs (inscriptions), chronicles and so on. Most of them are epitaphs (inscriptions).
Ancient Dongguan
Ancient Dongguan tells the story of ancient Dongguan to the audience through its collection of cultural relics and historical documents in five parts: the dawn of civilization, the ancient town of a thousand years, facing the ocean, an important business town, and advocating culture and education.

Activity construction
Since 2013, Dongguan Museum has actively opened up a new situation of social education work, actively contacted with the city's primary and secondary schools, formed a joint construction unit with Dongguan Keyuan middle school and Dongguan central kindergarten, built a "Dongguan history education practice base" and organized a number of joint construction activities.
In March 2013, Dongguan Museum recruited volunteers from the society for the first time, forming a warm, standardized and efficient volunteer team.
In March 2014, the Dongguan Museum and the teaching and Research Office of the Municipal Bureau of Education jointly held a meeting on "building Dongguan history education platform by libraries and schools", which invited nearly 150 history teachers from 60 middle schools in the city to attend the meeting.
"Cultural Relic Appreciation lecture hall" series activities have become the brand activities of Dongguan International Museum Day and Chinese cultural heritage day every year.

Dongguan Museum has 9542 pieces (sets), including 18 pieces (sets) of first-class cultural relics, 85 pieces (sets) of second-class cultural relics and 977 pieces (sets) of third-class cultural relics. Among the collections are not only the underground cultural relics excavated by archaeologists, but also the ground cultural relics collected from Zifu Temple of Yuan Dynasty, such as the bronze bell and the elephant tower of Nanhan Town, as well as the precious cultural relics donated by the Palace Museum. The collection of calligraphy and painting is more large-scale, especially the works of famous calligraphers and painters and schools in Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times in Guangdong, such as Zhang Mu, Ju Lian, Ju Chao, Deng Bai, Lu Zishu, Lingnan School of painting, Chinese Painting Research Association, etc It is characterized by the quality of products.
research findings
The research work of Dongguan Museum mainly focuses on museology, cultural relics, local historical events and figures, and has published more than 10 series of Dongguan Museum books. In cooperation with Guangdong University of pharmacy, we have successfully applied the plastification technology of ancient corpses, and in cooperation with Guangdong Institute of cultural relics and archaeology, we have carried out the research on cultural relics unearthed from the village head site.
Organization setup
Dongguan Museum has six functional departments, including office, preservation department, exhibition department, local history research office, archaeological excavation department and jin'aozhou Tower Management Institute. It is also responsible for the management and protection of jin'aozhou tower, a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
