Huilong Bridge
Huilong bridge, commonly known as "Beidaqiao", spans the Gan River (commonly known as Zhuo River) in Zhoucun city (Zibo, Shandong). Because there are "Panlong bridge", "Shulong bridge" and "Wolong bridge" in the upper reaches of Gan River, all the "Dragons" converge, so it is called "Huilong bridge".
The bridge is still one of the main highway bridges on Gan River in Zhoucun District. In 1984, it was announced as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit.
style
The bridge connects Shunhe street in the East and Heping North Street in the West. It is 35.7m long, 6.3m wide and 5m high (above the riverbed). The whole bridge body is made of limestone and sand. There are seven arched holes. The middle hole is the largest, about 2.8 meters high, with a span of 4.2 meters. The two ends hole is the smallest, about 2 meters high, with a span of 3.7 meters. The other four holes are 2.2 meters high, with a span of 3.9 meters.
There are stone railings on both sides of Huilong bridge deck, with a height of 88 cm. There are 42 watchposts and 80 railings. There are stone relief carvings of beauty, Shoutao, Longzhu and so on. There are still 66 pieces left. The original four stone lions at both ends of the bridge and the stone carvings at the top of the pillar were destroyed in 1966. Huilong bridge was built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in 1830. The stone tablet was used for other purposes in 1976.
Today's appearance
At present, this ancient bridge with national characteristics is one of the existing large-scale ancient bridges in China, with intact main body, flat deck and solid body.
As early as the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zhoucun had become a town of industry and commerce. Because of the wide and deep Gan River in the west, it was inconvenient to transport goods with Jinan, Zhangqiu and Zouping. It was built in the Wanli period, and a stele was erected on the north side of the east end of the bridge to record its events. In the 10th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, in order to facilitate the traffic, the bridge was expanded and rebuilt. The rebuilt stele and the chuangxiu stele are juxtaposed at the bridgehead. When the water conservancy project was started in 1976, the two steles were removed to build the well pool.
There are two rivers in Gan River under the bridge, one is Gangou River, the other is Zhuo river. Gangou river originates from Baiyun Mountain, flows eastward between baojiayao and Fujiazhuang into the urban area, and the two rivers meet outside Xinglong gate, which is called Gan River.
The Gan River flows to the north, turns to the west at wangyunmen, turns to the north at Shulong and Wolong bridges, and turns to the east at Zhenxi bridge. The East bend covers Hualong street. Then turn north through Longwang bridge and go straight down through Huilong bridge.
The Gan River is like a dragon, which not only encircles the streets of Panlong, Hualong and Huilong, but also passes through the bridges of Shulong, Wolong and Longwang. To the north of Longwang bridge is Longwang temple, so the last bridge is named Huilong bridge.
In the 11th year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty, the wall of Zhoucun village was completed, and a town gate was built at the east end of Huilong bridge, named Tongji gate, which means connecting Jinan in the West. At the same time, Fujiazhuang also built a wall and a town gate (unknown name) at the west end of the bridge. Over the next few decades, pedestrians looked from afar, and water and horses came and went on the bridge. The walls at both ends of the bridge are high, and the two doors face each other. Setting off the five temples to the South and connecting the mosque to the north, it becomes a scenic spot of Zhoucun.
