Dongtan wetland of Lingkun Island
Dongtan wetland in Lingkun Island, Zhejiang Province, is an important wetland in China. It is 30 km east of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with geographical coordinates of 27 ° 58 ′ N and 120 ° 54 ′ e, covering an area of 1599 hectares.

The lowland island at the mouth of Oujiang River is surrounded by a dike, and there is a large intertidal mudflat outside the dike in the East. It is rich in biological resources, which is the most precious natural wealth given to Wenzhou people by nature.

Wetland types
The Dongtan wetland of Lingkun island can be divided into three types.
The first one is agricultural reclamation wetland, which is mainly composed of vegetable fields, orchards and crisscross rivers, ditches and ponds, suitable for raptors and birds;
The second is aquaculture pond wetland, which is mainly artificial pond for aquaculture of seafood. The water area is large and suitable for Ardeidae, water duck and some Snipes;
The third is pure natural beach wetland, covered by reed and other wetland vegetation, and has a large area of beach water, which is suitable for Plover and endangered water birds. Wenzhou Bay Wetland has unique geographical advantages, which is the most precious natural wealth given to Wenzhou people by nature.
Biological resources
The main vegetation is farmland on the island and Carex dominated swamp community outside the dike. The farmland in the island is cultivated, and the beach outside the dike is coated with shellfish. It is an important post and wintering place for migrating ducks and Snipes. From December 2 to 3, 1986, 21 species of wintering birds, more than 1800, including 160 white backed Curlew and 450 snub nosed duck, were recorded.
Wetland threat
Excessive human activities; As the east beach of Lingkun island is in the process of reclamation (i.e. crossing the Hainan dike of Wenzhou Peninsula project), we can see the dramatic changes of bird habitat and foraging point in a short time. These indomitable wild life are trying their best to adapt to the large-scale development of human beings. If the beach continues to be polluted and the habitat landscape is suddenly changed, these birds will lose their last life The most valuable natural habitat in Wenzhou will no longer exist. Nearly 2000 shorebirds, as well as sporadic green footed snipe, ring necked bunting, white eared snipe, egret, heron, red tailed Shrike and Kingfisher were found.
