Jinan campaign is of great significance in the history of China's Liberation War. In order to commemorate this great victory forever, the martyrs' deeds exhibition room of Jinan revolutionary martyrs cemetery was expanded into Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall.

Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall is built in the center of the planning axis of Jinan revolutionary martyrs cemetery memorial building complex. Relying on the Castle Peak, the revolutionary martyrs memorial tower and the martyrs cemetery are located in the north and south. Its building is large-scale and its design is solemn and magnificent. Historically, it is like a revolutionary cultural relic, and its display content and form are more unique.

Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall

Jinan Campaign Memorial is located at the foot of hero mountain in Jinan, with a total investment of 38 million yuan and a construction area of 6800 square meters. It is composed of two parts: exhibition hall and panoramic gallery. The exhibition hall is divided into historical turning point, prelude to decisive battle and so on.

Jinan Campaign Memorial was built in 1998 and officially put into use in 2003. It receives more than 300000 people from all walks of life. It is a "national patriotic education demonstration base", "the first batch of 100 red tourism classic scenic spots" and "national defense education demonstration base". It is also a place and demonstration window for major commemorative activities of martyrs in Shandong Province and city.

On June 5, 2020, it was rated as the ideological and political education base for retired soldiers in Shandong Province.

Development history

On September 16, 1948, the East China Field Army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, following the orders of the Central Military Commission and Chairman Mao Zedong, liberated Jinan at one stroke after eight days of fierce fighting. Jinan campaign opened the prelude to the strategic decisive battle of the national war of liberation, which has an important position and significance in the history of the war of liberation. In order to commemorate this great victory forever, in 1998, on the occasion of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jinan, it was decided to expand the exhibition room of revolutionary martyrs' deeds in Jinan revolutionary martyrs' cemetery into Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall. After four and a half years of careful transformation, it was completed on March 24, 2003.

Jinan Campaign Memorial is a national patriotic education demonstration base and one of the 100 classic red tourism scenic spots in China. In recent years, with the concern and support of leaders at all levels and the whole society, the exhibition level of the memorial has been continuously improved, the educational service function has been gradually improved, and it has played a positive role in the revolutionary tradition and patriotism education. In order to make further use of the resources of the memorial hall, better play its role as an education base, and let the masses share the fruits of reform and development. On the eve of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Jinan, with the approval of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, the Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall will be opened free of charge from January 1, 2008.

In November 2017, Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall was closed for upgrading.

On September 16, 2018, it was officially opened to the outside world.

In June 2020, Shandong provincial Party committee and government printed and issued "several measures to implement the implementation outline of patriotic education in the new era", pointing out the transformation and upgrading of Jinan Campaign Memorial Hall, etc.

Main display

The exhibition area of the new museum has increased from 2008 square meters to 2699 square meters, and the visitors flow exhibition line has been extended from 256 meters to 485 meters. There are two floors in the exhibition hall, which are divided into eight parts: "preface hall", "peace and war game, life and death contest", "strategizing, sword pointing to Jinan", "eight days and eight nights, fierce battle of the ancient city". The number of cultural relics on display has increased from 298 to 374, and the exhibition content is more rich and detailed, which improves the attraction of the exhibition.
