Tang Zhong in Zhangye

Now it's hanging on the upper floor of Zhenyuan, Zhangye City, Gansu Province. It's mainly made of copper alloy with exquisite casting technology and magnificent shape. The outer wall of the clock is slightly yellow, with iron cyan in the yellow. The height of the bell is 1.3 meters, the height of the New Zealand is 15 cm, the aperture is 10 cm, the height of the lip is 9 cm, and the aperture is 1.15 meters. The upper part is thin and the lower part is thick, slightly trumpet shaped, with six ears along the mouth and straight ears. It weighs about 600 kg. The design of the bell body is divided into three layers, and each layer is divided into six grids, three of which are object images, three of which are nine images in total. The images are separated by "" pattern in the grid between the images. The upper three pictures show Feitian, with a corolla on his head, a bare upper body, a long skirt, bare feet, and a bouquet in his hand. It is light and elegant, flying in the style of Tang Feitian in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes murals. In the middle level, there are three pictures, two for birds and one for Xuanwu.

Development history

The rosefinch has a long neck, long legs, long tail and wings, while the Xuanwu bird has a long mouth, long legs and wings. There are three pictures in the lower level, two for white tiger, one for green dragon, and the Dragon leaps and the tiger leaps. The clock is made of alloy, which is six percent of its gold and one percent of its tin. It can not only withstand heavy blows, but also produce a loud sound, which can spread to the whole city.

Source function

Before liberation, there were no fire-fighting facilities in Zhangye. When a fire broke out in the city, it was this bell that called the police. In 1963, the clock was declared a cultural relic under provincial protection.
