Agricultural College of Sun Yat sen University
In October 1908, Tang Youheng, a doctor of Agronomy, was appointed by quanyedao of Guangdong Province to set up an agricultural experimental farm in Guangdong Province.
In 1909, the Guangdong provincial agricultural experimental farm was established. Tang Youheng was the director of the Guangdong Provincial Agricultural Experimental Farm and the supervisor of the agricultural teachers' workshop. The site of the farm was waiou village, Dongmen, Guangzhou.
In April 1910, the Agricultural Institute officially enrolled students. In May, the Institute was ordered to be changed into an agricultural teacher's Institute, and the school level was "the same as that of higher education".
In 1912, the Agricultural Institute was renamed the higher agricultural and Forestry Institute.
In 1917, Guangdong Public Agricultural College was established on the basis of higher agricultural and Forestry Institute.
In August 1921, the forestry discipline was added, with a four-year schooling.
In June 1924, it was jointly established as Guangdong University with Guangdong Normal University and law and Politics University, and established as an agricultural college.
In July 1926, as Guangdong University changed its name to National Sun Yat sen University, it became the Department of agriculture of Sun Yat sen University.
In 1930, he was a member of the Agricultural College of Sun Yat sen University.
In 1931, it was changed to Agricultural College of Sun Yat sen University.
Agricultural College of Lingnan University
On September 3, 1916, the Department of agronomy of Lingnan University was established, affiliated to the University of Arts and Sciences, with a four-year undergraduate system and Gao Lufu as president.
In 1921, Zhong Rongguang, Deputy Supervisor of the University, applied to Guangdong Provincial Government for the establishment of Lingnan Agricultural University, which was approved by the Ministry of education, experimental department, business department and promotion department (Ministry of Agriculture). The Ministry of education has set up five branches: field arts, horticulture, animal husbandry, sericulture and agricultural products manufacturing. The undergraduate course is four years.
In November 1923, Liao Zhongkai, governor of Guangdong Province, commissioned the establishment of the "Guangdong silk improvement bureau" in the school of Agricultural University on the basis of the Department, and appointed Kao Huo, former director of the Department of silkworm and mulberry, as the director of the Department.
In 1927, the central government promulgated the regulations for private school registration, and Lingnan Agricultural University became a college of Lingnan University. The college offers a four-year agricultural general subject with a Bachelor of Science degree, and a three-year vocational class.
In 1928, the "Shiyou hall" of the college building was completed.
After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, on October 12, 1938, Lingnan University announced the suspension of classes. At the end of October, it moved to Hong Kong and resumed classes on the campus of the University of Hong Kong.
In 1940, Lingda decided to move the agricultural college back to Pingshi, northern Guangdong. On November 13, a total of 30 students from grade three and grade four of the Agricultural College opened classes in Pingshi. In August 1941, by the order of the Ministry of education, the agricultural college set up the Department of Agronomy and the Department of horticulture. In January 1942, freshmen and sophomores from the agricultural college came to join us from Hong Kong. From 1944 to 1945, Lingda Agricultural College moved to Xianren temple, Rucheng and Meixian in Hunan Province.
In 1949, the Department of plant pathology was established by expanding the original plant pathology laboratory.
In 1950, the Institute of plant pathology was established.
Merger and formation
South China Agricultural University
On November 10, 1952, during the adjustment of colleges and departments, South China Agricultural College was established by merging the Agricultural College of Sun Yat sen University, the Agricultural College of Lingnan University and the Department of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine and the Department of diseases and insect pests of the Agricultural College of Guangxi University. It was under the charge of the Ministry of agriculture. Chairman Mao Zedong wrote the name of the college.
In 1958, Guangdong forestry college was separated from South China Agricultural College and Hunan Forestry College.
In 1963, Hunan Forestry College moved to Guangzhou and merged with the Department of forestry of South China Agricultural College to establish Zhongnan Forestry College (now Zhongnan Forestry University), which is directly under the management of the Ministry of forestry.
In October 1970, South China Agricultural University and South China Forestry University merged into "Guangdong agricultural and Forestry University", which is a national key construction.
In 1974, the school moved from Guangzhou to Xupu County, Hunan Province, and changed its name to Hunan Forestry University.
In 1975, "Guangdong agriculture and Forestry College" was split up, and the two colleges ran independently.
In September 1977, the school was renamed "South China Agricultural College".
In 1979, the University was listed as a national key university by the State Council, directly under the Ministry of agriculture.
In September 1984, the University changed its name to "South China Agricultural University".
South China Agricultural University
In 1994, the Ministry of agriculture and the people's Government of Guangdong Province signed an agreement to jointly build South China Agricultural University.
In 1999, it was selected into the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education bases.
In 2000, the state deepened the reform of university management system, and the University was put under the charge of Guangdong Province by the Ministry of agriculture.
In December 2004, South China Agricultural University was rated as excellent in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education.
In 2010, it was selected as the national "characteristic key discipline project" construction university.
At the end of 2011, he was selected into the public postgraduate program of national construction high level university.
In June 2012, the people's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of agriculture jointly established South China Agricultural University.
In July 2014, South China Agricultural University was awarded "2014 National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education. In October, it was selected as one of the first batch of Pilot Universities of national excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training program.
In 2015, South China Agricultural University became the key construction University of Guangdong high level university.
In July 2017, South China Agricultural University was selected as the National Model University for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform; in the same month, it was rated as "2017 national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.
In October 2018, the University was identified by the Ministry of education as one of the first batch of Comprehensive Reform Pilot Universities of "three complete education". In November, South China Agricultural University was selected as the "key construction University of high level university" in the new round of high level university construction plan of Guangdong Province.
In February 2019, the University was recognized by the Ministry of education as one of the first batch of Universities' scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases.
