Bangtuo Temple
Bangtuo temple is located in rongmuda Township, Rangtang County, Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, 32 kilometers away from the county seat. Founded in the Yuan Dynasty, it belongs to the Ningma sect (red religion) Temple of Tibetan Buddhism. The existing cultural relics include Lama pagoda and stone scriptures.
The origin of history
Bangtuo temple in Tibetan means "the temple on Caoba". As the name suggests, the temple is surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers, the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, the hunting of ancient temple prayer flags, and an endless stream of pilgrims.
The temple is backed by zhanbala mountain, facing Xiangshan and zequ River, a tributary of Dadu River. Overlooking Xiangshan, stretching out a long nose and drinking freely, you can bend the river into a "U" shape. Mount zhanbala stands tall like a statue of god Buddha. The famous Buddhist Tantric practice holy places are Mitha practice cave, immortal cave, Gesar practice cave, and hivara inheritance practice cave. Eight auspicious treasures and seven zhuanwang treasures are distributed among them. It is said that in the 4th century BC, a sage from India came here to practice Buddhism.
Temple scale
The temple covers an area of 1.023 hectares with a construction area of 1538 square meters. There are 32 Lama pagodas in the temple, which were successively built in the Ming, Qing and Republic of China periods. They are distributed in the range of 465 meters in length and 25 meters in width. In history, they are known as the three major pagoda groups in the national Tibetan area together with the Jiangzha temple and Ganzi Seda Temple pagodas in Tibet. All the towers are of wave blocking type with square base, bottle belly shaped tower body and thirteen wheel tower brake.
The inside of the pagoda is empty. There are statues of Buddha with thousand hands and thousand eyes, Buddha of Sakyamuni, Buddha of wuliangshou, lianhuasheng, Buddha mother, Green Tara and a large number of exquisite murals. Among them, the demon subduing tower was built in 1427, with a side length of 9.25 meters and a height of 32 meters. It contains some Ming Dynasty Buddha statues and murals. It is the oldest Lama tower in the tower group.
Stone scriptures
The stone inscriptions of Tibetan scriptures in Ming and Qing Dynasties are divided into two parts, Ganzhuer and danzhuer. They are made of more than 500000 pieces of stone on both sides. They are stacked according to the order of scriptures. They cover an area of 620 square meters and are 11 meters high. It is the most complete stone carved scriptures in Tibet, and also the largest number of stone carved scriptures in the country. It has a far-reaching impact on the religious masses in Tibet.
In 2001, bangtuo temple was announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
Layout structure
Bangtuo temple covers an area of 10229.4 square meters, with a grand scale and unique architectural style. There are more than 200 monks in the temple, all of whom believe in the Red Cross religion and juenong religion. Beside the temple, they lie on their backs. The famous stone carved Tibetan scriptures "ganzhur" and "danzhur" at home and abroad.
Research value
According to historical records, the stone Tripitaka was carved by more than 60 masons for nine years since the Ming Dynasty. The Tripitaka is 9.7 meters high, 46 meters long and 13 meters wide, covering an area of 598 square meters. It is a rare stone Buddha Hall and Tibetan classics at home and abroad. It is also the most complete stone Tripitaka with high cultural relics and artistic research value.
Around the 500 year old magic tower, there are 32 pagodas, including "Wanfo pagoda", "Zunsheng pagoda", "Bodhi pagoda", "Shengle pagoda", "Duowen pagoda", "Xianren pagoda", "Changshou pagoda", "Shilun pagoda" and "Fumo pagoda". Some of them are 42 meters high, while others are only 6 meters high. There are thousands of Bodhisattvas such as Sakyamuni and Guanyin in the pagoda, and tens of thousands of Buddha paintings are painted, which are vivid and lifelike.
There is a Bodhi pagoda on the east side of the Tallinn, which is 6 meters high and 12 meters in circumference. It has a history of more than 200 years. According to the living Buddha of the temple, every auspicious day or the 10th or 15th day of the Tibetan calendar, there will be a loud chanting sound and a variety of wonderful instruments in the tower. Therefore, monks and pilgrims go to listen at the right time, and everyone is proud of hearing it.

Bangtuo temple, with its magnificent temples, rare stone scriptures, spectacular pagodas and beautiful surrounding landscapes, boasts a corner of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is a wonderful flower of Tibetan culture.
