Taihu Bridge
Taihu bridge is located in Taihu Lake. It starts from Yuyang mountain in Taihu Lake National Tourist Resort in the north and ends at dating mountain in the south. It crosses Taihu Lake and connects Changsha Island, Yeshan island and Xishan island. It is composed of No.1, No.2 and No.3 bridges. The bridge branch of Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University is responsible for the design of this bridge.
Taihu Lake Bridge is 4308m long, 12m wide and 181 spans. The project was organized and implemented by the CPC Wuxian county Party committee and county government with a total investment of 115 million yuan. Construction process
Fund raising and donation
On the afternoon of January 11, 1992, a mobilization meeting of "I strive for contribution for the bridge" was solemnly held in the auditorium of Zhenxia town government. More than 700 people from all walks of life, including representatives of villages, factories and mines, municipal units, self-employed households, retired cadres, all cadres of town organs, representatives of relevant units stationed in Xishan, attended the meeting. Yang Weiqing, the mayor of Xishan Town, read out the reply to the proposal on the construction of Taihu Lake Bridge project issued by the provincial Economic Planning Commission. Ma Defang, the Secretary of the town Party committee, made a special speech on the significance of building Taihu Lake Bridge, the site selection, the construction scale, the source of funds and the positive attitude of Xishan people. More than 600 students of Shigong middle school donated 649.40 yuan on the spot. Xu Jietai, Secretary of the Party branch of Yeshan village, donated 1085 yuan on behalf of the party members and students in the village. Representatives from eight units, including Xishan recuperation home of Shanghai Federation of trade unions, Wuxian Xishan cement plant, Jinting quarry, Xishan Office of Agricultural Bank of China and Xishan power station, came to the stage one after another to make speeches and pledge the bridge construction funds on the spot. When the news that the provincial Economic Planning Commission approved the construction of the bridge came out, the people of Wu County cheered; when the county Party committee and government decided to raise huge funds to build the bridge on their own, the people of Taihu Lake enthusiastically donated money. An upsurge of "I strive for contribution to the bridge" soon rose in Wuzhong and spread to all over the world. Shen Changquan, Guan Zheng, Xie Huixin, the former leaders of Wu County, who are the leaders of Suzhou City, and the leaders of the county Party committee, the county people's Congress, the county government, and the county people's Political Consultative Conference took the lead in donating money, leading millions of people in Wu County to contribute and help each other. All organs, organizations, enterprises and institutions are full of enthusiasm and striving to donate money for the bridge. Cai Fuquan, deputy commander in chief of the county bridge construction headquarters, donated 1000 yuan. Xu Peihua, a doctor of Kunshan Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, once worked as a doctor on Xishan island for 10 years. He witnessed the tragedy of many critically ill patients because they could not be sent out in time. He was very excited after hearing the news of the construction of Taihu bridge. He sent a long letter and a donation of 1000 yuan to the bridge construction office. "Long live the Communist Party!" the letter said Shang Weiwei (8 years old), the third grade student of wanhu primary school in Gaoqiao township of Xuyi county in Northern Jiangsu Province, who was the first person outside the county to donate money for the bridge, sent a donation of 12.40 yuan and a letter to Qin Xingyuan, head of Wu County and commander in chief of bridge construction on January 23, 1992, which read: "Uncle Qin Xingyuan: I'm a third grade student of wanhu primary school in Gaoqiao township of Xuyi county. I saw Wu in Xinhua Daily on January 9 The county wants to build a rainbow on Taihu Lake. I think it will cost a lot of money to build it. So I send my usual allowance (12 yuan and 40 cents) to show my heart. Please accept it. " A classmate in grade 3 of Suzhou No.1 middle school signed "a member of the Communist Youth League who is about to graduate" and sent the first lucky money of 20 yuan to the bridge construction office as a donation. A student of Xishan middle school donated 30 yuan scholarship to him from Wu County talent foundation. More than 30 disabled orphans and the elderly in the county social welfare home also donated 100 yuan. Xu Kuifu, a self-employed farmer in the new village of Guangfu Town, donated 3000 yuan to the bridge. The total source of funds for Taihu bridge construction is 119670830.17 yuan, of which 10886761.22 yuan is donated by individuals, 40608410 yuan is raised by enterprises and institutions, 37.1 million yuan is allocated by finance, 28.5 million yuan is borrowed, and 2575658.95 yuan is other income. The total expenditure of the project is 115298711.81 yuan. preparation in advance
On October 14, 1987, the Urban Construction Bureau of Wuxian County presided over a forum on the pre feasibility scheme for the construction of Taihu bridge, in which more than 10 leaders and technicians from relevant departments of the county participated. After that, experts and engineering technicians from water conservancy, transportation, bridge, environmental protection, fishery, landscape, etc. were invited to have a discussion. We all agreed that it is more appropriate to connect Xukou to Xishan Road and prepare for the construction of Taihu bridge. From May to June 1989, Wuxian Urban Construction Bureau commissioned the first hydrogeological engineering site of Jiangsu Bureau of Geology and mineral resources to drill, focusing on the investigation of the underwater geological and soil conditions along the Taihu bridge. In August of the same year, the preliminary engineering geological investigation report of Taihu bridge in Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province was submitted. On June 29, 1991, the county standing committee decided to immediately start the preparatory work for the construction of Taihu bridge. On September 9, the Urban Construction Bureau of Wuxian County submitted the "report on the application for project approval of Xishan Bridge in Wuxian county" to the office of Jiangsu Taihu Lake Scenic Area Construction Committee (Taijian Office). The construction was approved on September 11. On September 23, the Planning Commission of Wu County submitted the proposal for Taihu bridge project to the Planning Commission of Suzhou city. On October 15, the Suzhou Municipal Planning Commission submitted the "proposal for Taihu bridge project" to Jiangsu Provincial Planning Commission, and Wu County sent a Commissioner to the province. On November 9, 1991, the construction of Tingshan highway, 2670 meters long and 16 meters wide, was broken. On December 9, the wireless Taihu Lake Bridge construction headquarters was established, with Qin Xingyuan as the commander in chief and Cai Fuquan as the deputy commander in chief. Design review and geological drilling
From March 3 to 5, 1992, 12 experts from Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Provincial Architectural Design Institute, provincial engineering consulting center, provincial transportation planning and Design Institute, Wuxi Construction Commission, Suzhou Environmental Protection College, Municipal Planning Commission and municipal landscape management bureau were invited by Jiangsu Taihu Lake Landscape Construction Committee and Wuxian County Government to participate in the evaluation of Taihu Lake bridge scheme. The experts carefully checked the nine schemes provided by the three units, and surveyed the bridge erection site locations of Xukou Yuyang mountain, Changsha Island, Xishan Yeshan island and Xishan dating mountain. They have always believed that it is necessary to build the Taihu Lake Bridge, and the selection and determination of the bridge location are reasonable. They also put forward pertinent opinions on the overall conception, modeling and technical basis of the bridge scheme. The design and shape of the bridge should be integrated with the natural environment of Taihu Lake and complement each other. The bridge body should be concise, bright, light and novel, with a sense of the times and personality. The shape of the bridge should consider the outline of the surrounding mountains. The bridge should be low rather than high, simple rather than complex. The piers should be as light as possible. The modeling style of the three bridges should be consistent. By secret ballot, it was unanimously agreed to improve the design on the basis of scheme B of group B No. 1 Bridge Tongji University. The gist of this scheme is "concise, bright, light and novel". On May 18, the Geological Exploration Brigade of Jiangsu Province entered the site to carry out geological drilling for Qiaowei, which lasted for more than a month. According to the data of 39 boreholes drilled, the geological conditions of the bridge site are good, and the ultimate load of a single pile with a diameter of one meter is 377 tons. Bridge inscription
On May 22, 1992, Premier Li Peng of the State Council visited Taihu Lake on the yacht "Biluo". He was very impressed by the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake. Yu Funan reported to the premier that Wu county is speeding up the economic development of Taihu Lake, and will build a bridge in Taihu Lake to speed up the development and construction of Taihu Lake with the bridge as a link. Preliminary design and project bidding
From August 4 to 5, 1992, the Provincial Construction Commission presided over the preliminary design review meeting of Taihu Lake Bridge Expansion in Suyuan Hotel, which was attended by more than 40 people including the Provincial Construction Commission, Provincial Planning Commission, Provincial Department of communications, Taihu Lake Basin Administration Bureau of the Ministry of water resources, provincial water resources department, provincial engineering consulting center, provincial Taiyuan construction office, leaders of relevant municipal and county departments and relevant experts. After on-the-spot inspection of the site of the bridge, and listening to the introduction of Tongji University Architectural Design Institute and provincial geological survey Suzhou Branch on the preliminary design and the geological conditions of the bridge site, the meeting passed the preliminary design. On August 21, the Provincial Construction Commission issued the approval document on the preliminary design of Taihu bridge.
