Pingtou Village

Pingtou village is located in the West Bank of Maoxian County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is 188 km away from Chengdu and 160 km away from Jiuhuang airport. The national highway 213 runs across the whole area, with convenient transportation and the Minjiang River around the village. The village governs three villager groups, with 1824 people in 551 households. 99% of the villagers are Qiang. At present, the cultivated land is more than 1200 mu. It mainly produces sweet cherry, apple, loquat, walnut, plum, grape and other excellent fruits and pollution-free commercial vegetables. It is a natural village dominated by planting industry.

Village profile

Pingtou village was listed as a new rural construction pilot village by the provincial development and Reform Commission in 2006, and has established a 60 mu characteristic fruit maternal garden base and black goat breeding base for the introduction, experiment, demonstration and promotion of new varieties. Through cooperation with private enterprises, the abandoned land has been revitalized and 200 mu sweet cherry base has been established. Driven by demonstration, the whole village has planted more than 450 Mu sweet cherry and more than 500 mu green Crisp Plum. More than 800 mu of pollution-free vegetable base has been established, and four seasons planting has been implemented. The total planting area is more than 3200 mu, and the income per mu is more than 8000 yuan. In the construction of rural infrastructure, we have solved the problem of safe drinking water for people and livestock in the whole village, widened and reconstructed 2.5km roads and hardened 3.5km roads. In 2008, we plan to fully realize the construction of cement roads for groups and households, and build 180 biogas digesters to solve some energy problems. In order to solve the problem of the way out for the landless peasants in the construction of central cities, we are planning to build a comprehensive farmers' market to realize the re employment of landless peasants.
