Yangjiaoshan temple is the former residence of Yang Jisheng in Ming Dynasty. Yang Jisheng (1516-1555), named Zhongfang and Jiaoshan, was born in Rongcheng, Hebei Province, and was a Jinshi of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, his former residence, songyun nunnery, was transformed into a ancestral hall. There is a stone plaque on the front door of the hall, which reads "the former residence of Mr. Yang Jiaoshan", and a statue of Yang Jisheng in the main hall. When Yang Jisheng was a member of the Ministry of war, he was demoted because he wrote "please stop Ma Shi Shu", and then he was used again. Less than one month after he arrived, he wrote "please kill thief minister Shu", counting the ten crimes of Yan Song's five traitors. Later, he was put into the prison of the Ministry of punishment by Yan Song. Before his execution, he left a famous sentence: "the noble spirit is still too empty, and his heart shines through the ages. I have never served my country in my life, so I will keep it for my loyal soul. In the following 400 years, some famous scholars wrote poems and Fu to praise Yang Jisheng's moral character and style.
During the reform movement of 1898, more than 1300 Juzi, headed by Kang Youwei and Tan Sitong, gathered here. Kang Youwei drafted the emperor's letter, which is called the letter on the bus. It is a key cultural relic to be protected in Beijing.
