China Railway Museum
China Railway Museum is located in the north of No.1 Jiuxianqiao North Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing
Covering an area of 1000 square meters, it is a national professional Railway Museum in China. Its predecessor is the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of railways. It was established in 1978 and renamed China Railway Museum in 2003.
China Railway Museum has three museums: Zhengyangmen Museum, Dongjiao Museum and Zhan Tianyou Memorial Museum. The main task is to be responsible for the collection, storage, display, display and research of railway cultural relics, scientific research achievements and other exhibits. At the same time, it serves as a base for patriotism propaganda and education and science popularization.
In December 2017, it was selected into the list of the first batch of national primary and secondary school students' research and practice education bases and camps of the Ministry of education.
Development history
In February 1978, the Ministry of Railways approved the establishment of the preparatory group for the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of railways.
In August 1978, the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways was officially established, under the Ministry of railways. Since its establishment, the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways has carried out cultural and Museum, film and television, exhibition, model production and other business work, but there was no official site at that time.
In June 1991, the leaders of the Ministry of Railways instructed to build the China Railway Museum or Expo Center, which is located near the experimental base of the Academy of Sciences of the Ministry of railways.
In March 1993, according to the "decision on adjusting the leadership system of the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways" (tie Bian [1993] No. 1), the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways was managed by the Academy of Railway Sciences.
In September 2003, the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways was renamed as the China Railway Museum according to the reply on renaming the science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways as the China Railway Museum (cbfz [2003] No. 113) issued by the office of the Central Compilation Committee.
In 2010, according to the instructions of the Party group of the Ministry of railways, the new China Railway Museum was established by integrating the former China Railway Museum and Beijing Railway Museum. The new China Railway Museum is a bureau level unit, which is still an institution under the Ministry of Railways and managed by Beijing Railway Bureau. It is a national professional museum and a public welfare cultural institution.
It opened on October 23, 2010 and is located in the north of No.1 courtyard, Jiuxianqiao North Road, Chaoyang District.
On November 2, 2002, the locomotive and rolling stock exhibition hall of Dongjiao museum was opened to the public; Zhan Tianyou memorial hall, located in Badaling special zone of Yanqing County, is a secondary legal entity subordinate to China Railway Museum.
It opened on November 6, 1987. The office area of the railway museum is located in Building 1, yard 2, Malian Road South Street, Xicheng District.

Zhengyangmen Museum
Zhengyangmen Museum, located in the southeast of Tiananmen Square, is the main Museum of China Railway Museum. It was rebuilt from the former site of Zhengyangmen east station of Beijing Fengshui railway and opened in October 2010. Zhengyangmen museum is the popular science education base of Beijing and the patriotic education base of Beijing Bureau.
Dongjiao Pavilion
Located in the north of Jiuxianqiao, Chaoyang District, Beijing, Dongjiao Pavilion, with a construction area of 20500 square meters, is divided into locomotive and rolling stock exhibition hall and comprehensive exhibition hall. It was officially opened to the public on September 1, 2003. The locomotive and rolling stock exhibition hall gathers and displays nearly 100 locomotives and rolling stock of different periods, types and systems of China's railways. The earliest existing "0" steam locomotive in China and the "Mao Zedong" and "Zhu De" locomotives named after revolutionary leaders can be regarded as "treasures" of China's Railway Cultural Relics.
Zhan Tianyou Memorial
Zhan Tianyou memorial hall is located in the north of Badaling Great Wall, a famous tourist attraction in the world. It is a memorial hall for special characters built in memory of Zhan Tianyou. The building area of the hall is 2800 square meters, the display area is 1850 square meters, and the collection of more than 2000 cultural relics. It was opened to the public in 1987. Zhan Tianyou memorial hall is now a national three-level Museum. It is a national popular science education base, Beijing patriotism education base, Beijing Youth Students' extracurricular activities base, and science and peace education base.

At present, there are 30 newly renovated locomotives and vehicles. The manufacturing time span is from 1881 to 1979. There are 16 steam locomotives, 5 diesel locomotives, 1 electric locomotive, 7 passenger cars and 1 freight car. Among them are No.0 locomotive, one of the earliest locomotives in China, Mao Zedong and Zhu De locomotives named after great men, and steam locomotives from Britain, the United States, Japan and Belgium. Diesel locomotive has China's first generation of electric drive trunk freight locomotive Dongfeng 1301, etc. Each car is equipped with a text board to introduce the model number, axle arrangement, total length, design speed, manufacturing country, manufacturing year, etc.

Dongjiao Pavilion
The eastern suburb Pavilion mainly displays locomotives and rolling stock with a building area of 16500 square meters. There are eight display lines with different track bed structures and different sleeper forms in the exhibition hall, which can display 80-90 locomotives and rolling stock at the same time.
There are more than 50 renovated locomotives on display in the exhibition hall, which were manufactured from 1881 to 1993. There are 28 steam locomotives, 8 diesel locomotives, 1 electric locomotive, 7 passenger cars and 9 freight cars. Among them, there are No.0 steam locomotive, the earliest locomotive in existence in China, which can be called the treasure of Zhenguan, Mao Zedong and Zhude locomotives named after great men, and various types of steam locomotives made in different periods in Britain, the United States, Japan, Russia and Belgium. Diesel locomotives include the first generation of "Dongfeng" electric drive trunk freight locomotives made in China and the first generation of "Shaoshan" electric locomotives made in China. There are also many kinds of passenger and freight vehicles, including old-fashioned special passenger cars, official cars of state leaders, different kinds of railway passenger cars, sleeping cars, dining cars, luggage cars and various kinds of railway freight cars for different purposes. The cultural relics on display in the locomotive and rolling stock exhibition hall of China Railway Museum are the epitome of the development and change of China's railway traction power, and the historical witness of China's railway from backwardness to modernization.
Zhan Tianyou Memorial
Zhan Tianyou memorial hall is located at the foot of Badaling Great Wall. In 1987, Lu Zhengcao, the founding General of the people's Republic of China and the old minister of the Ministry of railways, personally selected the site for construction. The exhibition hall has a construction area of 2800 square meters, a display area of 1850 square meters and a collection of more than 2000 cultural relics. The basic display of Zhan Tianyou memorial hall is divided into four parts and twelve units. "No.0" steam locomotive is the oldest locomotive preserved in China. It was used in the early Tang Xu Railway (Tangshan xugezhuang). It was made by Scottish locomotive works in 1882, also known as "four wheeled" locomotive.
