From the third year of Yongle to the eighth year of Xuande (1405-1433 A.D.), the historical facts of Zheng He's voyages to the West and the great boatman's presence in Taiping harbor of Changle are often found in the works of Zheng He and his envoys. Zheng He's stele (commonly known as "Zheng He stele", the same below) in Changle magazine records that "if the palace in Nanshan of Changle is located here, I will wait for the wind and open the ocean." Fei Xin recorded in detail in "Licha Shenglan · Qianji · zhanchengguo": "the seventh year of Yongle In autumn and September, he sailed from Liujiagang, Taicang, stayed at Taiping port, Changle, Fujian in October, and opened in wuhumen, Fujian in December Ten days and nights with the wind to Zhancheng state. " It can be said that Zheng He's fleet traveled all the way from Nanjing to Fujian, sailed 2970 miles along the coastline, and then berthed at Changle. This part of the journey was only the domestic preparation stage before going abroad.
Why did zheng he choose Changle Taiping port as the last port for domestic voyage? This is because the river here is wide and deep, the harbor is hidden in the hinterland of the inland, the mountains on both sides are emerald, the barrier is north and south, the mountains of Min'an town in the Northeast are facing each other, the river is narrow, and the waves in the open sea are restrained, so it is a natural haven; the Taiping harbor is also a good ocean port for fresh water supply because of its green mountains and abundant fresh water resources. The ancients wrote a poem praising Hong Kong: "there is no wind for thousands of miles to smooth jade, there is a moon for thousands of waves to break gold", "the blue water stops the boat to connect all countries, the masts go to Jiuzhou like a forest". There were more than 20000 boat masters of Zheng He, seven of whom were stationed in Changle. The assembly time was several months each time, even ten months. Zheng He's successful ocean voyage led Changle people to move to Southeast Asia and have friendly exchanges with overseas countries. Since then, Changle has been known as the "hometown of seafarers".
Love -- Zheng He's second hometown is Changle
When Zheng He was stationed in Changle, he traveled all over the land of Wu. He was in love with Changle people and regarded Changle as his second hometown.
Zheng He once visited "huiwengyan" named after famous Confucian Zhu Xi in Erliu village of Tantou, Changle. On this rock, Zhu Xi wrote "reading room" in calligraphy, where zheng he repaired Longfeng Academy. This place is also known as "sanbaoyan". Later generations have statues of Zheng He placed in the rock for worship. In the seventh year of Yongle, zheng he toured the Majiang River Basin. Because of his superiority, he changed Majiang River into Taiping port. In the same year, he also came to Wenshi village of Tantou to build "Tianfei Temple", where he "set up a sacrifice and set sail". In the 10th year of Yongle, Zheng He built the "imperial concubine's Palace" in Nanshan of Changle. The palace was "magnificent" and was a place for the crew and officials to pray for blessings and thank God. The palace was later moved to the "Queen of heaven Palace" in huameishan, Xiguan, on the riverside, where there is now a "Zheng He historical relics exhibition hall". In the first year of Xuande, Zheng He and others cast a bronze bell for the hall of Sanqing Dynasty. The body of the bell is engraved with such words as "peace and stability of the country and the people", "favorable weather", "eternal support, praying for peace and good luck" and so on.

In the mid winter of the sixth year of Xuande, on the eve of Zheng He's seventh overseas trip, he, together with Wang Jinghong and others, set up a stele named "the story of the heavenly concubine's response" in the palace of the heavenly concubine in Nanshan There are 31 lines of inscriptions and 1177 spaces in regular script, recording the journey of Zheng He's fleet sailing through the wind and waves, praising the gods of the heavenly concubines, elaborately building the palace complex in Nanshan of Changle, and the time, place, personnel and trade friends of the fleet's seven missions to the West. This monument has become the only precious cultural relic in China and even in the world that contains the important historical materials of Zheng He's voyages to the West.
Zheng he recruited Changle soldiers for many times, and paid attention to training and reusing all kinds of talents. Among the thousands of Changle officers and soldiers, Li Shen followed Zheng He to the West during the 27 years. He made many achievements and became a general. At last, he became the general of Zheng He's government and served him until the end of the year. Up to now, the former residence of Li Shen still exists in Huangli village, Shouzhan Town, Changle, and is now inhabited by his descendants. "Changle County annals" records: "eunuch building, also known as Mu Meng building, is located at the eastern foot of the pagoda, with six fans and five fans. Eunuch Zheng He, the third protector of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, donated it to Changle when he went to the West and was removed in 1966." It is said that Zheng he dreamed that an old woman invited him to eat fried Chinese chives with cuttlefish. When he woke up, he met a widowed mother with fried Chinese chives with cuttlefish, who was mourning for her son. Therefore, zheng he recognized this woman as yiniang, and built a "mother dream building" for her. Later, he made Zheng He Xingyuan, also known as "eunuch building". The story of "Zheng He Yi Niang" is well-known to women and children. Changle people often praise Zheng He's love and educate the younger generation to be filial to the elderly.

Zheng He's nautical chart
Changle is the berthing base and opening point of Zheng He's boatman. During Zheng He's seven voyages to the Western Ocean, whether they started from Nanjing baoshipyard or Taicang Liujiagang, the fleet must first arrive at Taiping port in Changle, Fujian Province for berthing each time, waiting for the wind to open up the ocean, as short as two months and as long as nearly a year. Zheng He's voyages to the west left many precious relics here.
1. Taiping port, where Zheng He's boat master was stationed. Located in the west of Changle City, the harbor was wide, deep and calm at that time. It was a natural haven for berthing ships.
2. The stele of "the story of the heavenly concubine's response" contains the inscriptions of Zheng He's seven voyages to the West. The stele, commonly known as Tianfei stele and Zhenghe stele, was inscribed in the winter of 1431, the sixth year of Xuande in Ming Dynasty, before Zheng He's seventh mission to the West. The monument was unearthed in Nanshan of Changle in 1931 and is now kept in the exhibition hall of Zhenghe historical relics.
3. The bronze bell in the hall of the three Qing Dynasty is made by Zheng He's heart, which is commonly known as Zheng He's bronze bell. In the sixth year of Xuande in Ming Dynasty (1431), before Zheng He's seventh voyage to the west, it was built for the Sanqing palace in Nanshan of Changle. The clock is now stored in the Zhenghe Navigation Museum.
4. Sanfeng pagoda, song pagoda whose name was changed by Zheng He. The pagoda is located at the top of Nanshan in the center of Changle City. In 1413, the monks of Zheng He Temple rebuilt the pagoda and finished the construction. The title of the pagoda is "Sanfeng Pagoda Temple".
5. The imperial concubine's palace was built by Zheng He as a place for the army to pray. In the 10th year of Yongle (1412), after Zheng He returned from the West for the third time, he asked to build a "imperial palace" beside the Nanshan pagoda (Sanfeng Temple Pagoda), "as a place for officials and soldiers to pray for retribution", and build a large well stone railing of the Imperial Palace.
6. Sanqing palace, the Taoist temple built by Shi caiding of Zheng He. Built in the spring of the sixth year of Xuande, Zheng He is located on the left side of Tianfei palace.
