The south tower is one of the "four towers and four temples" around the East, West, South and north of Shengjing city built by Huang Taiji in the early Qing Dynasty. It was first built in 1643, the 8th year of Chongde in the Qing Dynasty, and was completed in 1645, the 2nd year of Shunzhi. It has a history of more than 350 years. In the early Qing Dynasty, a temple was built under each of the four pagodas. The pagoda and the temple system were built at the same time. The temple under the South pagoda was Guangci temple. According to the records of Shengjing Tongzhi, Guangci temple had five main halls, two stele pavilions, three Heavenly King halls, two bell and drum towers, one South Temple Tower and three mountain gates. The south tower was restored in 1985 and 1986, and became a park and scenic spot.

Two stone columns are erected at the four corners and in the middle of each side, thus forming three pot doors on each side. The stone pillars are carved with patterns such as baoxianghua and Xifan lotus. In the middle of each side, there are brick pots and flames, and there are tall and raised brick lions on both sides of the pot door. There are three layers of brick round altar base on the frame of the base. Above is the body of the pagoda. In the south of the pagoda, there is a niche for gods, and the niche is surrounded by beautiful cloud beads. On the top of the pagoda is the thirteen layer phase wheel, and on the top is the pagoda brake, which is composed of a copper casting inverted cover, sun, moon and pearl. The wind is hanging under the cover.
