Wenzhou Museum

Wenzhou museum is located in Century Square, Shifu Road, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a comprehensive local museum.

The building area of Wenzhou museum is about 26000 square meters, and the total exhibition area is 12000 square meters. Taking the history museum, which shows the 5000 year history of "Wenzhou people", as the core exhibition hall, there are six special exhibitions, including painting and calligraphy Museum, ceramics museum, nature museum and Craft Museum. As of 2013, Wenzhou Museum has more than 20000 cultural relics, including 20 categories of ceramics, bronzes, colored sculptures, brick carving, lacquerware, calligraphy and painting.

Wenzhou museum was named the provincial patriotic education base in 2004, and was rated as the national second level museum by the State Administration of cultural relics in May 2009.

On May 18, 2017, it was promoted to the third batch of national first-class museums.

Development and construction

Wenzhou museum was founded in 1958, the original site in jiangxinyu.

During the cultural revolution, Wenzhou museum was abolished and merged into Wenzhou Library until 1981.

In 2003, the New Wenzhou Museum, located on the west side of century square, was completed and officially opened to the public.

In May 2009, Wenzhou museum was rated as a national second-class Museum by the State Administration of cultural relics.

History Museum

The history museum is the main exhibition of Wenzhou Museum. It is composed of "preface", "conclusion" and "Dong'ou kingdom", "Dong'ou under the central dynasty", "after the opening of the port" and "today's Wenzhou". With "Wenzhou people" as the theme, the subtitle is "a story of survival and development".

Calligraphy and painting Museum

The works on display in the painting and calligraphy Museum take the collection of fine paintings and calligraphy as the main line, supplemented by the excellent works of Wenji painters and calligraphers in various periods. Precious paintings and calligraphy include long volumes of scriptures written by qianning in Tang Dynasty, Taoist paintings interpreted in late Tang and early Song Dynasty, authentic works by Ren daoxun, Wang Shouren, Li Jingchi, Tan Zhirui, Dong Qichang, Zhang ruitu, Ni Yuanlu, Lan Ying and Chen Hongshou in Ming Dynasty, Zhu Da, Hua Yan, Huang Shen, Gao Qipei, Zhao Zhiqian and Ren Bonian in Qing Dynasty, and modern famous artists such as Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Pan Tianshou and Fu Baoshi .

The theme of the museum is "the story of the white elephant tower". It tells the story of the white elephant tower built in the Northern Song Dynasty on the outskirts of Wenzhou in 1965. After 850 cold and hot days, archaeologists carried out rescue demolition and found many exquisite cultural relics in the wall of the tower.

Wenzhou Museum has carried out the activities of "entering the campus, entering the community and going to the countryside" for many times; every summer, it helps to hold the root seeking trip of overseas Chinese children; in traditional festivals such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid Autumn Festival, it carries out activities of traditional Chinese cultural elements such as Dragon Boat Festival banquet, sacrifice to Qu Yuan, Han costume exhibition and performance; it also cooperates with ouyao Research Institute, arts and Crafts Research Institute and other social institutions, and does not want to participate in the activities We should regularly carry out the learning and production activities of Wenzhou traditional handicrafts, establish a co construction education base with the education authorities and the majority of primary and secondary schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions, and carry out various forms of interactive projects, so as to make the museum a base for extracurricular activities of primary and secondary school students. Venue features

The architectural design of Wenzhou museum is vigorous and simple. Nine giant copper murals are hung on the wall of the central hall, such as Shennong Fuxi, Jingwei reclamation, Suiren Huo, Nuwa mending the sky, Pangu Kaitian, Kuafu chasing the sun, Chang'e rushing to the moon, Houyi shooting the sun and Dayu harnessing the water, showing the breadth and depth of Chinese civilization. The exhibition in the Ceramic Museum is arranged in different districts according to the time of ceramic development, highlighting the local characteristics of Ou kiln.

In 2005, Wenzhou Museum won the best content design award of the sixth national top ten cultural and Expo exhibition.
