brief introduction
Zhou Enlai's ancestral home is a brick house with Ming Dynasty architectural style facing south and a black bamboo door with traditional characteristics. The appearance of the ancestral home is simple and solemn, with three rooms in each. There is a patio between the two entrances, and there are small corridors on both sides of the patio. The first entrance is taidoumen in the middle, and the left and right are auricles. The second entrance is the hall. The third entrance used to be a building. After it collapsed, it was converted into a bungalow. Now it is the patriotism education base of Zhejiang Province and the moral education base of Shaoxing school. Zhou Enlai said many times before he died that "I am from Shaoxing" and called Shaoxing his hometown. According to local records, the Zhou family moved to Shaoxing in the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty.
Ancestral House History
On the way to work in the city, it is said that among the ancestors, there was a couple who lived to the age of 100, so they used to be called the "hundred year hall". Zhou Enlai's ancestors lived here. When his grandfather worked in Jiangsu, he moved to Huai'an. In 1939, Zhou Enlai came to Shaoxing, where he received relatives, friends and people from all walks of life, publicized Anti Japanese and national salvation, wrote many anti Japanese inscriptions for anti Japanese people and villagers, and filled in genealogy. In 1984, when his ancestral home was renovated, Zhou Enlai's historical relics exhibition room was set up, which mainly introduced Zhou Enlai's activities in Shaoxing during the Anti Japanese war.
His ancestral home was formerly known as Xiyang hall. In 1698, Zhou Maozhang's wife, Wang, lived to be 100 years old. The governor of Zhejiang Province specially inscribed a plaque to celebrate the centenary mother's gate, which is also called the centenary hall. Zhou Enlai returned to his ancestral home from March 29 to 31, 1939. He received his relatives, friends and personages from all walks of life here, delivered Anti Japanese speeches, held workers' symposiums, and wrote many inscriptions to patriots, relatives and friends, pointing out a bright future, calling for unity against Japan, and encouraging young people to learn. This greatly inspired the Anti Japanese and national salvation enthusiasm of the people in his hometown, and filled in Zhou's genealogy. In the 1980s, Shaoxing people's Government renovated the centenary hall and basically restored its original appearance. The plaque of "centenary mother" on the instrument door was written by Gu Tinglong, and the plaque of "Zhou Enlai's ancestral residence" on the lintel was inscribed by Chen Yun. In March 1998, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Zhou Enlai's birth, the centenary hall was once again fully expanded, and a bronze statue of Zhou Enlai was carved in the middle of a new square opposite his ancestral home for later generations to observe and hold commemorative activities. The ancestral residence of Zhou Enlai. Its original name was "hundred year hall". It is a platform gate building with the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. On March 28, 1939, when Zhou Enlai returned to his hometown Shaoxing as vice minister of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the national government, he received people from all walks of life, relatives and friends, wrote Anti Japanese inscriptions and filled in genealogy.
