Dongba text of wangulou is interpreted as "Millennium wandailou", which is called "wengulun" in Naxi language, meaning to enjoy the commanding height. The building has five floors, with double eaves and brackets, and 16 wooden columns of 22 meters high run through each floor. There are 13 eaves and angles in the Wangu building, which is a metaphor for the thirteen peaks of snow in Yulong mountain. 2300 auspicious patterns, such as the moon and stars, symbolize the 23 nationalities living in Lijiang. There are a total of 9999 dragon sculptures, which, together with the one dragon in the caisson on the roof of the building, will become the eternal prosperity of ten thousand dragons. The building is 33 meters high, symbolizing 330000 people in Lijiang. The stone lions at the entrance of the building are full of different moods and welcome tourists from all directions. You can see Yulong Snow Mountain, the whole ancient city, the surrounding rural villages, the thirteen peaks of Yulong in the north, the ancient city of Lijiang and Mufu in the East. Eternal house
Wangulou is a landmark building in Lijiang. In Dongba language, it is interpreted as "the building of thousands of generations" and called "wengulun" in Naxi language, which means to enjoy the view at the commanding height. Because of its harmonious sound, it is called "the building of thousands of generations". "Ten thousand" means overlooking the ancient city of Lijiang and its idyllic scenery, overlooking the ten thousand year old glacier of Yulong Snow Mountain, and implying the restoration and reconstruction of Lijiang's home, lasting forever.
Introduction to scenic spots
Wangulou is located at the commanding height of Shizishan in Lijiang ancient city, and its periphery is connected with Mufu. From the vanguard tower, you can overlook the ancient city of Lijiang and its idyllic scenery, as well as the Wannian glacier of Yulong Snow Mountain, which means that Lijiang will be restored and rebuilt, and will last forever. Inside the Wangu building, there is a high pine forest slope, and a large platform can look out at the whole Lijiang ancient city. In the clear sky, under the green mountain, the Yulong Snow Mountain is clearly visible in the distance on the left, and the grey tile roofed dwellings in the intricate arrangement extend to the distance on the right. Around the platform, you can go straight down the stone steps to Mufu, and up the stone steps to wangulou.
Architectural features
The wangulou is a tower style building with five eaves and all wood structure, 33 meters high, symbolizing the 330000 people of all nationalities in Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County. There are 16 main columns, all of which are the first floor of China's all wood structure Dougong building. The length of the column is 22 meters, which reflects the folk saying that "good things come in pairs" and the custom of choosing two days for good fortune in marriage. The 16 pillars are used to reflect the legend of nine brothers and seven sisters in Dongba hieroglyphs, implying that the Naxi people will create a better world together.
The floor plan of the building is square, with a width of 18 meters and a depth of 18 meters. Four pairs of stone lions with different forms are placed at the entrance of the building. There are 2300 auspicious patterns in the building, representing 23 stone carvings in Lijiang, implying that in the four seasons of the year, the wind blows, the rain is smooth, and the grain is abundant. There are 9999 dragon patterns carved and painted in the whole building. In addition, there are tens of thousands of dragons in the caisson on the top of the building, which means that Lijiang is a beautiful home for the descendants of dragons. The dragon mouth shape of the caisson on the top of the building reflects the legend that the dragon can spit water. It is intended to have water to overcome fire disasters. It indicates that people should not throw cigarette butts and pay attention to fire prevention when they go upstairs for sightseeing or walk in the forest.
Tourism strategy
From Sifang street, you can walk up the stone steps of Shizishan to the wangulou building, which is only 30 minutes away (Shizishan was the back garden of Mufu in the Ming and Qing Dynasties). You can watch the scenery while climbing. From the vanguard tower, you can see the magical and beautiful Yulong Snow Mountain in the north, the old town of Lijiang in the East, the colorful new town of Lijiang in the west, and the picturesque countryside in the south. In the distance to the south, there is a "pen peak" like a giant pen. Next to it, there is a Bijia mountain where the "pen" can be put.
