Study
Located in sujiapo village, Gutian, Shanghang, shuhuaitang, the former site of the special committee of the Communist Party of China in West Fujian, was built in the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. The whole building faces east in the west, with 7 rooms in width and 6 rooms in depth. It is of brick and wood structure, with a floor area of 672 square meters and a floor area of 1100 square meters. The main building is divided into front, middle and back three entrance halls. The back hall is a two-story hall. There are wing rooms on the left and right sides of the middle and back halls. The two horizontal buildings are the north and south side houses.
In October 1929, the West Fujian Special Committee of the Communist Party of China moved from Shanghang city to sujiapo. The special committee was located in shuhuaitang, where it led the work of the local party in West Fujian, carried out the agrarian revolutionary struggle, and assisted the work of the Fourth Red Army. It worked until March 1930, and made due contributions to the establishment and development of the revolutionary base in West Fujian.
Mao Zedong and he Zizhen, who came to sujiapo with the special agency, lived in the small attic on the left side of the back hall of Shuhuai hall. In this small attic, Mao Zedong, who was suffering from malaria, worked and lived here for more than 40 days on behalf of the former Committee of the Fourth Red Army to guide the work of the West Fujian Special Committee. He changed his name to "Mr. Yang". After work, he often went deep into the countryside for investigation and research to find and solve problems in time.
In order to help Su Jiapo's people turn over culturally, Mao Zedong founded a "civilian primary school" in the back hall of Shuhuai hall, and took great pains to compile textbooks and lectures for the civilian primary school. He is concerned about the sufferings of the masses, and there are still many touching stories among the masses in sujiapo.
One day, Mao Zedong learned that Yang Dongdong, a special cook, had taken away the only quilt in his family and covered himself in brown because his son had joined the red guards. Mao Zedong then gave Yang Dongdong one of his military blankets, which greatly moved Yang Dongdong. When he left sujiapo to return to the Fourth Red Army, Mao Zedong also left the cotton wadding bought by the special commission to take care of his body to the local poor peasants.
The virtue of "Mr. Yang" is widely praised among the masses of Su Jiapo.
During Su Jiapo's period, Mao Zedong paid close attention to the early Party School of our party, the cadre training class of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, which was located near Shuhuai hall. In addition to frequently asking about the training class, Mao Zedong also personally taught the students Marxism Leninism courses.
One day, while talking with Deng Zihui, Secretary of the West Fujian Special Committee, Mao Zedong asked, "Comrade Zihui, what do you think is the task of leaders?" Deng Zihui couldn't answer for a moment. Mao Zedong patiently said: in my opinion, the task of leaders is to be "communicators" for the masses. He said that it is not easy to be a good communicator. We must timely reflect the opinions and demands of the majority of the masses to the party and political organs, then summarize and analyze them, make corresponding decisions, and pass them on to the masses for implementation. Deng Zihui thought that this statement was very reasonable, highly targeted and creative, so he openly conveyed the spirit of Mao Zedong's speech at the special committee meeting. Later, the special committee quickly spread this spirit to the party and government departments of counties in Western Fujian, educated the leading cadres, changed the bureaucratic work style at that time, and further strengthened the relationship between the party and the masses.
On the hillside on the right side of shuhuaitang, there is a natural cave, Zhenbei cave. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. The environment is fresh and quiet. It is the place where Mao Zedong rested and studied in those days. Now local people call it "Chairman hole".
In May 2005, Fujian Provincial People's government announced shuhuaitang as the Sixth Batch of provincial cultural relics protection units.
