Xianyuan, on the Bank of Wangjiaqiao, Shantang street, Mudu Town, is commonly known as Yanjia garden because of its owner's surname Yan. It is said that Shen Deqian once planted trees and flowers here and began to take shape as a garden. In 1828, Qian Duanxi built a garden, piled mountains and opened pools, built pavilions and pavilions, and named it duanyuan. In 1902, duanyuan was changed to Yan Guoxin (grandfather of Yan Jiagan). After repair and construction, it was renamed Xianyuan.

Garden pattern

Yan's garden is an imperial garden. The residence faces south and the buildings are arranged along the central axis. From the front to the back is the screen wall, hall, sedan hall, hall and hall. Shangxian hall is an important place for reception of distinguished guests, weddings and funerals. The hall is the inner house and the living place of the owner's family. There are two brick gates in the house. The gate tower, built on the back eaves of the sedan hall, is named Fangyan garden. In the autumn scenic area, four characters "Guifu Lanfang" are engraved, which means that the fragrance is as strong as orchid and osmanthus, lasting for a long time. Under the gate tower, Fang is embossed with the pattern of "taking the lead"; in the left and right pockets of the gate tower, the patterns of Wu Wang Zhang Shicheng's tour and travel are respectively embossed; on the top of the gate tower, Fang is engraved with rich and colorful contents, including "Xu Pang's farewell" ”"Zhao Zilong saves Liu Adou" and so on. The gate tower of the inner house is built at the back of Shangxian hall. On the top of the gate tower, there are reliefs of "cloud crane", on the bottom of the gate tower, there are reliefs of "Qun Xian Zhu Shou", and on the left and right sides, there are reliefs of "Xian Zhi Mo Shu" and "Lu Yu Zhu Cha". The four characters of "LVYE Liufang" in Fangli are written by Feng Guifen. ?

Garden features

Yanjia garden consists of four small scenic spots with their own characteristics. The four rockeries are made of bluestone and Yellowstone respectively. The rockery in the summer scenic area has the largest volume. When you look at the rockery outside, you can see the big from the big. When you look at the rockery inside, you can see the big from the small. The green stone rockery in the spring scenic spot is close to the back eaves of the friend's study, so it has a direct view. The Huangshi rockery in front of muxixiang hall is called Chishan because it leaks the moon to attract clouds and passes through the cliff to reach the water. The Huangshi rockery in the back garden of the hall stands against the wall, so it is called the wall hill. The rockery in the garden imitates the natural landscape form, showing the natural image of mountains and cliffs, caves and valleys, belonging to the Duixiu school.
