Former Quanzhou Teachers College
On May 1, 1958, under the situation of the great leap forward, the Committee of Fujian Jinjiang special region decided to establish Quanzhou University. Quanzhou university has four colleges: Engineering College, agricultural college, medical college and normal college. There are four majors in Chinese, mathematics, physics and chemistry in the normal university, and 419 freshmen are enrolled. The length of schooling is one or two years.
On May 8, 1958, Quanzhou Teachers College, the first college in Jinjiang District of Fujian Province, officially opened.
On September 7, 1958, the freshmen of Quanzhou University registered.
On October 1, 1958, all the teachers and students of Quanzhou University held the opening ceremony. Wang Dexiu, Commissioner of Jinjiang special office, and Zhu Zhanhua, Vice Minister of Publicity Department of the local Party committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Chen Jinyuan, vice president, gave a report to all the teachers and students.
In the autumn of 1958, Quanzhou University was founded, which consists of four colleges of engineering, agriculture, medicine and Normal University. The normal university's campus is temporarily sent to Quanzhou Normal University.
On October 3, 1958, Quanzhou University officially held classes.
On March 27, 1959, the CPC Jinjiang special district committee decided to set up several colleges of Quanzhou University separately. The Engineering College of Quanzhou university is called Quanzhou University, with a separate College; the agricultural college and the Agricultural College of Jinjiang special district are merged, with the brand of Quanzhou Agricultural College; the Medical College and the medical school of Jinjiang special district are merged and changed into the Medical College of Jinjiang special district.
On July 24, 1959, the school affairs committee of Quanzhou Teachers College was established.
Quanzhou Normal University was established on June 24, 1960. It has 252 teaching staff and 1151 students in eight majors (Politics and education, Chinese, foreign language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and sports).
The seal of "Quanzhou Normal University" was put into use on July 23, 1960.
In September 1960, the Department of Quanzhou Normal University moved to the new campus of Qingyuan mountain.
In the autumn of 1962, it was merged into the Fujian Second Normal University, which is located in Zhangzhou. After that, it was changed into a tutorial school for overseas Chinese children in Jinjiang District.
In March 1978, the Jinjiang prefectural Party committee decided to resume Quanzhou Teachers College and set up a preparatory leading group to resume Quanzhou Teachers College. In April 1978, the provincial government approved to set up a junior college class for teachers in Jinjiang area. The junior college class for teachers and Quanzhou Normal school have a set of teams with two brands. They work together and have six majors of politics and education, Chinese, English, mathematics, physics and chemistry. The length of schooling is two years. The school officially opened in May that year. 492 candidates for the 1977 national college entrance examination were recruited. In addition, 1489 new students were recruited. Most of them were enrolled in different classes in different counties (cities).
On May 8, 1978, the first batch of 500 normal college students held the opening ceremony.
On December 15, 1978, the preparatory group of Jinjiang normal college in Fujian Province was changed into the preparatory group of Jinjiang normal college in Fujian Province. The seal of "preparatory group of Jinjiang normal college in Fujian Province" was put into use.
In 1981, Quanzhou Teachers' college was officially re established on the basis of Jinjiang teachers' college class. Its full name is Quanzhou Teachers' college.
On July 21, 1981, the State Council approved the establishment of Quanzhou Teachers College.
In 1986, the Fujian Provincial Education Commission listed Quanzhou Teachers College as one of the key construction teachers colleges during the Seventh Five Year Plan period.
On March 29, 1994, Fujian Provincial Department of education adjusted the name of colleges and universities, and Quanzhou Normal College was renamed "Quanzhou Normal College"

Former Quanzhou Institute of Education
Quanzhou Institute of education was founded in 1951. It was originally named Jinjiang primary school teacher training class. Wu Xiuqiong, director and Secretary of the Party branch, is located in Chengtian temple, Licheng District.
In 1955, it was renamed Jinjiang District primary school education administrative cadre training class and moved to beimendingpu.
In 1960, it was renamed Jinjiang education administrative cadre school.
It was closed from 1969 to 1971.
In 1971, it was reopened as a middle school teacher's class in Jinjiang area. The school is located in Erlang lane, Licheng District, now in Quanzhou finance and trade school.
In 1975, it was renamed Jinjiang middle school teacher training class.
In 1977, it was changed into Jinjiang education cadre school.
In 1977, it was changed into Jinjiang education cadre school.
On June 10, 1979, by the decision of Jinjiang Prefecture Party committee, it was renamed Jinjiang teachers training college.
In 1980, the school moved from Erlang lane to Xuefu Road, Licheng District.
In January 1985, approved by the people's Government of Fujian Province and reported to the Ministry of education for the record, it was upgraded to Quanzhou Institute of education, a local adult college with the nature of teacher training.
At the end of 1997, Quanzhou Municipal Party committee and government decided to gradually merge Quanzhou Normal College, Quanzhou Institute of education and Quanzhou Normal School into one normal college from the spring of 1998. On this basis, they will expand land acquisition, increase investment and prepare to build Quanzhou Normal College

Former Quanzhou Normal School
Quanzhou Normal School was founded on November 1, 1952. It has successively set up junior normal class, accelerated normal class, art normal class, ordinary normal class and correspondence class. In 1966, it was suspended because of the "Cultural Revolution".
In 1972, it was re established and renamed Jinjiang normal school to recruit workers, peasants and soldiers. Normal enrollment was resumed in 1977 and Quanzhou Normal School was resumed in 1981. After the resumption of the school, it has successively run ordinary normal class, physical education class, liberal arts class, mathematics class, junior college class, civilian teacher class, English class, music teacher class, art teacher class, special education teacher class, general teacher correspondence class, etc.
In August 1998, with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's government, Quanzhou Normal University merged with Quanzhou Normal College and Quanzhou Institute of education to form a new Quanzhou Normal College. The four-year major of music, fine arts, special teachers and general teachers, which was originally recruited by Quanzhou Normal School, was merged into the art department (music and fine arts) and the general primary education department (special education and ordinary primary school teachers) of Quanzhou Normal College, and was changed into a unified college enrollment. Quanzhou Normal School Students of grade 97 and Grade 98 continue to stay in school until graduation. Quanzhou Normal University's personnel, assets, business authority and the party League, trade union relations transferred to Quanzhou Normal College

Former Nan'an normal school
Nan'an normal school was founded in 1939. The school is located at the northern foot of gaogaishan mountain, which is the border of Shishan and dock towns in Nan'an county. It was originally named provincial Dehua national normal school and began to recruit students in the spring of 1940. Six year class A, one-year class C, two-year class B and four-year class of normal university are offered.
In 1940, it was renamed the provincial Dehua simple normal school,
In 1942, it was renamed provincial Dehua normal school. A three-year general normal course is added to senior high school.
In 1946, it was renamed Nan'an normal school.
In the autumn of 1947, a high school art normal course was added.
On October 1, 1949, the people's government took over the school.
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, there were ordinary normal classes, one-year accelerated normal classes, primary school teachers' rotation classes, and normal college classes.
In 1966, it was suspended because of the "Cultural Revolution".
In the autumn of 1978, it resumed to run two-year normal classes. Four year ordinary normal class, three-year ordinary normal class, two-year civilian teacher class, old district preparatory class and poverty alleviation preparatory class.
In November 2001, with the approval of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, Nan'an normal school was incorporated into Quanzhou Normal University, and Quanzhou Normal vocational college was established on this basis. The personnel, assets, business authority, Party League and trade union organization relations of Nan'an Normal University are transferred to Quanzhou Normal University. The original Grade 98 and Grade 99 normal students of Nan'an normal university continue to stay in school and study until graduation. They are managed by the newly established Higher Vocational College of Quanzhou Normal University

After the merger
On August 24, 1998, after the study of Fujian provincial governor's office meeting, it was agreed to merge Quanzhou Normal College, Quanzhou Institute of education and Quanzhou Normal School to form a new Quanzhou Normal College.
On February 24, 2000, the Guangzhou meeting of the National College Evaluation Committee passed the motion of changing Quanzhou Teachers' College into Quanzhou Normal University at the undergraduate level.
On March 21, 2000, the Ministry of education replied to the people's Government of Fujian Province and agreed to establish Quanzhou Normal College on the basis of Quanzhou Normal College.
On April 17, 2000, Fujian Provincial People's government agreed to establish Quanzhou Normal University.
On November 23, 2001, Nan'an Normal University was officially incorporated into Quanzhou Normal University and became the higher vocational and Technical College of Quanzhou Normal University.
On February 16, 2003, the first board of directors of Quanzhou Normal University was held.
