The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University (HSNU) is located at 143, section 3, Xinyi Road, Da'an District, Taipei city. It is one of the top public high schools in Taipei city.
history
The predecessor of the high school attached to normal university can be traced back to April 1, 1937 (12 years of Showa and 26 years of the Republic of China) during the period of Japanese occupation. At that time, the Japanese government set up the "No.3 Middle School of Taipei state" on the part of the land of the fake agricultural experimental farm in the northwest corner of Da'an District, which was called "Twelve a" in the Qing Dynasty, and Daxin TieMa was the principal. Up to the end of the Second World War, when Japan was defeated and surrendered and Taiwan was restored, most of the students in No. 3 middle school of Taipei state were the children of Japanese in Taiwan, and only about one tenth of them were Taiwanese.
On December 5, 1945, under the order of the Taiwan Provincial chief executive's office, which took over Taiwan after the restoration, the state No. 3 middle school was renamed "Provincial Taipei No. 3 middle school", but it was renamed "Provincial Taipei peace Middle School" on January 25 next year. In general, Jianguo middle school, Chenggong middle school and Heping middle school are still called "Sansheng middle school" by many people, or together with Beiyi girls middle school (today's Taipei No.1 girls middle school) and Beier girls middle school (today's Zhongshan girls middle school), they are called "wusheng middle school". During the period when it was just renamed Heping middle school, the school mainly concentrated on Japanese students who were still staying in Taiwan at that time. This situation lasted until the end of April 1947, when the government speeded up the repatriation of Japanese overseas Chinese. In principle, the Heping middle school during this period still employed the teaching staff of the Japanese occupation era, while the principal in charge was also a part-time post. Compared with the Heping middle school after it was officially taken over by Taiwan, it can be said that it had only one name and the same school site, but in fact it had little origin.
In 1947, the political situation in the mainland was unstable. At that time, there were more and more children of mainland citizens who came to Taiwan with the government. Therefore, the provincial education department arranged Heping middle school to accept these students. At the beginning, these students were arranged to take classes in the classrooms borrowed from Taipei Business Vocational College (today's Taipei Institute of business and Technology), and they did not move back to the school until the Japanese children had completely evacuated. At that time, the Provincial Normal University (today's Taiwan Normal University) was preparing an affiliated middle school for future students' internship and educational experiment. Therefore, it applied to the provincial education department to change Heping middle school into an affiliated middle school of the normal university. On August 1, 1947, when the new school year began, it was officially renamed as "the Affiliated Middle School of Taiwan Provincial Normal University", with a high school department and a middle school department. In addition, in October 1949, the high school attached to the teachers' College also took over about 310 students from the school for the survivors of the National Revolutionary Army, which seemed to be the school with the highest proportion of children from other provinces at that time.
In 1955, the normal university was transformed into a university. In 1967, it was transformed from a provincial university into a state-owned one. Therefore, the attached middle school will be transformed into a "National Taiwan Normal University Affiliated Middle School" in the coming year. However, it was not until 1973 that Huang Zhenqiu, an associate professor of education department who used to teach in the normal university, became the president of the high school attached to the normal university. For example, the teachers in the school gradually changed to alumni graduated from the relevant departments of the normal university, and the administrative system also changed to employ graduates from the Department of education or the Department of educational psychology of the normal university to gradually improve their professionalism. In 1979, the name of the school was changed to "senior high school affiliated to National Taiwan Normal University" in response to the reopening of the central part of the country.
Although there was a junior high school department in the early days of the affiliated middle school (the era of Heping middle school), it stopped recruiting students in 1961 in response to the so-called policy of "provincial run senior high schools and municipal run junior high schools". It was not until 1980 that the central part of the country resumed its operation.
From 1965 to 1981, the attached high school enrolled students from the night department. In addition, in 1955, at the request of the Provincial Department of education, the affiliated high school set up a Mucha branch in gouzikou, Mucha, Taipei County (today in Wenshan District of Taipei City) in response to the evacuation. However, when Taiwan began to implement nine-year national education in 1968, the branch was ordered to return to the Taipei municipal government and became today's Taipei practical national middle school.
School spirit and characteristics
In view of the fact that the secondary school attached to normal university is originally an experimental secondary school attached to normal university, it is quite different from other public high schools in school spirit. The curriculum and establishment are highly experimental, the atmosphere of enrollment is less than that of other well-known high schools, and the educational style is generally acknowledged to be lively, but it abides by the educational theory. However, compared with other top high schools, this also makes the attached high school suffer a little in terms of enrollment rate.
Uniform and symbol

Because students in Taiwan still need to receive military training education in the early days, most of the uniform design of boys in public high schools are mainly Khaki military training uniform. In the 72nd school year (1983), the high school attached to normal university developed and began to use the uniform design of light blue coat and dark blue trousers, becoming one of the pioneers in changing into non Khaki Uniform in several major public high schools in Taipei. In the early days, due to the needs of military training, the blue uniform was used in turn with khaki military training uniform according to the demand. In the 77th academic year (1988), the hard round military cap, commonly known as "big plate cap", was first abolished. In the 80th academic year (1991), the use of khaki military training uniform was completely abolished. Since then, the blue school uniform has become the only uniform of the students in the attached middle school. As for girls' uniforms, they are designed with white lotus leaf collar top and grey blue knee length skirt.
Because the blue color of the uniform is close to the sky, and compared with other high schools in Taipei, the middle school attached to normal university has a vast area, so the students often call themselves "sons of blue sky". During the 50th anniversary of the school (1997), the two "fire phoenix" ceramic tile paintings on the floor of the middle school also became the spiritual symbol of the attached middle school.
Experimental class and experimental course
In addition to the general standard classes, the high school attached to normal university has always had a lot of special experimental classes. For example, from 1950 to 1961, it recruited the "four two system experimental class", which is a six-year class from junior high school to senior high school. It is totally different from the standard three three system middle school education system used in Taiwan. In 1978, "science education experimental class" (420 and 430 classes in the first session) was set up to test the acceptance of the newly designed related courses. In 1980, "music education experimental class" (464 classes in the first session) was set up. In 1986, "Mathematics and natural science experimental class" (625 and 626 classes in the first session) was set up by the Ministry of education to strengthen the teaching experiment of mathematics and science These are the special class system rarely seen in public high schools.
"Mathematics and natural science experimental class" is a class of mathematical talents registered by the Ministry of education. In school, it is called "science and education class" for short. Today, there are about 100 students in three classes a year. The most characteristic course of the science and education class is a three-hour "special topic research" in a week. Students choose their own groups according to their interests, and they are divided into six groups: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information science and earth science. Special research teaching emphasizes the spirit of science. In addition to in-depth discussion of the contents of various subjects, it also requires students to explore problems, design and carry out experiments, participate in scientific exhibitions and publish results. At this time, teachers only play the role of assistant to cultivate students' ability to solve problems by themselves. Many students also find cooperative laboratories in universities and research institutions such as National Taiwan University, normal university or Academia Sinica to experience laboratory life in advance.
In addition to setting up special experimental classes, the attached middle school also often uses them to test teach the newly developed teaching materials of various subjects, and only after the acceptance is determined is it promoted and formulated as the national education standard.
educational practice
In addition to being the experimental object of the course, another important function of the attached high school of normal university is to serve as an educational practice driving range for the graduating students of Normal University. Although other schools also allocate some internship teachers every year, only the secondary school attached to normal university's educational practice is comprehensive, and all subjects are taught by internship teachers. The original teachers are temporarily in charge of supervision and teaching evaluation during this period.
Both men and women
Although it is not uncommon for male and female high schools in Taiwan to enroll together, the top six old high schools (male students are Jianguo, affiliated high school, Chenggong, female students are Beiyi, Zhongshan and Jingmei) in the Taipei public high school enrollment system, which is traditionally known as "beilian", have only one
