Tainan Bingma camp site is located in the area of today's Tainan gymnasium and the district court. The Tainan District Court was founded in 1912, the first year of the Japanese occupation. It is directly under the jurisdiction of the local court of Taiwan's governor's office. In ancient times, this area was known as the "Horse Camp". It was the military camp of the Ming and Zheng dynasties and the former residence of the famous historian Lian Yatang. Moreover, the blood and tears of the local court during the Japanese rule also left many historical scars. It became one of the first Japanese occupied buildings in Taiwan to be officially classified as historic sites.
