history
Wuyun temple, located in the south of the west section of Hongqi Road, Mangshi Town, Luxi City, Yunnan Province, is a county-level cultural relics protection unit. There are five big green trees in front of the gate. Many egrets live on the trees for a long time. From a distance, they look like five white clouds, so they are called Wuyun temple. The Dai people call them "Zang Han", which is called JINZI temple.
In the temple, there is a wooden plaque inscribed in both Han and Dai languages. It is 177 cm long, 49 cm wide and 3.35 cm thick. It is in the middle of the Chinese language, and it reads "huanzang Han (Meng + Li) founded by Si fangting, the chief executive of Mangshi in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty.". The inscription reads: "Wuyun temple is the first Buddhist temple to be built in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi. Its original name is Zang Han. It was moved from jiebiesai (now the new village of FAPA township) to Jiemu (near Mangshi) in the east of the original site (now the area of donglizhou epidemic prevention station in Mangshi town). The abbot is zuomitian, a native of Chiang Mai (Thailand). In 1802, the chieftain (Fang Zezhong) moved the temple to its present site (near diehuan cinema, Mangshi town). During the reign of Daoguang (1821-1850), the mother and son of fangtifa were rebuilt, and the Abbot's surname was ban. In 1856, the fifth year of Xianfeng, fanghafa was rebuilt. The Abbot's surname was Feng. The temple still worships the first bronze Buddha in Mangshi Area, palaguo (Meng + Li), which was brought from Chiang Mai by Zuo Mitian, the elder of Chiang Mai, Thailand. In addition, a large copper pot made in the Qianlong period (1736-1795) was used in the temple cupboard to cook a meal for 100 people.
In 1945, Zang Han was burned down by Japanese invaders. In 1946, the believers built a simple Sutra hall out of bamboo. In 1948, the temple was rebuilt into a wooden structure with the support of the believers and the chieftain. After 1945, Wu Aolida, the abbot of Wuyun temple, and a monk were present. In July 1953, a large bronze Buddha weighing about three tons was removed from the Zhonghua temple in Mangshi and placed in Wuyun temple. During the cultural revolution, except for a small silver Buddha which was collected by believers when the temple was first built, the temples, Buddha statues and scriptures of Wuyun temple were almost destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1984 and completed the following year. Today, Wuyun temple is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction in Mangshi.
