Historical development
At the beginning of 1979, the memorial hall of Huangqiao campaign began to be built. In October 1980, the Jiangsu provincial government approved its official opening to the outside world. Covering an area of 4820 square meters, the museum has three revolutionary sites: Huangqiao middle school, the former site of the northern Jiangsu command of the New Fourth Army, Dingjia garden, the former site of the administrative committee of Tong, Ru, Jing and Tai, and Yan Fuxing building, the former site of the headquarters of the third column.
In 1990, in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Huangqiao campaign, the provincial and municipal governments allocated funds to expand the Huangqiao memorial hall, dividing the west of Dingjia garden into exhibition rooms, doubling the display area. The special exhibition is divided into four parts: "preface hall", "historical background of Huangqiao campaign", "Huangqiao campaign which opened up a new situation of Anti Japanese war in Central China" and "carrying forward the revolutionary tradition".
In 1996, the museum self raised funds to update the original display layout. The total length of the exhibition line of the updated display layout is 192 meters. The color of the layout is harmonious and elegant, and the pictures are fresh and three-dimensional, giving people a new feeling.
In the past 20 years, the Huangqiao Campaign Memorial Hall has received 4.8 million visitors from all walks of life. In 1997, it was listed as the "patriotic education base of Jiangsu Province".
Battle of Huangqiao
It happened in 1940. At that time, the Anti Japanese War entered a stalemate. The Kuomintang stepped up its anti communist military friction and moved the center of friction from North China to central China. In order to persist in the war of resistance against Japan and oppose surrender, the Jiangnan headquarters of the New Fourth Army was ordered to lead the main forces into northern Jiangsu to carry out the strategic task of opening up Northern Jiangsu and developing central China. Han Deqin, the anti Communist diehards of the Kuomintang, chairman of Jiangsu Province and deputy commander in chief of the Shandong Soviet war zone, sent troops to attack our army many times, and our army was forced to defend itself and fight back. Since June 28, 1940, there have been four battles, including defending Guocun, entering Huangqiao in the East, fighting back in Yingxi, and occupying Jiangyan.
On September 30, Han Deloitte sent out his main force to fight against me at Huangqiao. By October 6, our army had annihilated more than 11000 diehards and won the battle of Huangqiao. The victory of the Huangqiao campaign was the result of the correct command of the headquarters in Northern Jiangsu led by Chen Yi and Su Yu in carrying out the instructions of the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao; the result of the bravery and bravery of the war instructors; the result of the strategic cooperation of the fifth column of the Eighth Route Army going south; the result of striving for the neutrality of some local powerful factions; and the result of the full support of the local Party organizations and the people The result of the aid.
The victory of the Huangqiao campaign created another brilliant example of winning more with less. It dealt a severe blow to the arrogance of the Kuomintang diehards, realized the successful reunion of the New Fourth Army and the Eighth Route Army, laid the foundation for the Anti Japanese Democratic base in Northern Jiangsu, and opened up a new situation in the Anti Japanese war in Central China.
