Xian'an stone forest is located at the border of Baoting and Sanya. It was discovered only in 1992. It is a new tourist attraction in Hainan. The stone forest in Xian'an is a typical tropical "karst landform". The karst gully is like chopping with a knife, and the deepest is up to 25 meters. The grotesque shape of the stone bud is up to 35 meters. The natural vegetation coverage of stone forest in Xian'an reaches 70%, and there are many natural landscapes, such as xiaoqianlong cave, Xiannv cave and Panlong cave.

Xianan Stone Forest

Geology and geomorphology

Xian'an stone forest is a new landscape in Hainan, which was discovered by experts in 1992. It is located at the border of Baoting and Sanya. It covers an area of 39 hectares on Xian'an mountain, 700 meters above sea level.

It is a typical tropical "karst landform", with karst gullies as deep as 25 meters and grotesque stone buds as high as 35 meters. There are also xiaoqianlong cave, fairy cave and Panlong cave in the scenic area. The big one can accommodate hundreds of people, and the river under the cave can be used for boating.

Baoting xian'anling is located on the 700 meter high xian'anling in Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County, Hainan Province. There are about 580 mu of stone forest. From a distance, the dense Stone Forest looks like a wolf's tooth. Line by line, it points straight to the blue sky and rises into the clouds. When you come near, you can see many mountains and towering mountains. The highest stalagmite is 35 meters, and the general stalagmite is 4 to 6 meters It's a masterpiece of nature. It's amazing. It's strange. The whole island is fascinating.

Historical evolution

In 1992, Professor Yang Huo of Hainan Normal University discovered this treasure by chance. He named it "Xian'an Shilin". This is a forest of stone with sword like and needle like stones on the top of the mountain. Before that, only a small number of old people who collected herbs occasionally broke into the forest. Because they did not understand the strange stone, they reverently called the mountain "ghost mountain" or "holy mountain". In 1995, the name of "Xian'an Shilin" first appeared in the atlas of Hainan Province published by surveying and Mapping Press.

The stone forest in Xian'an belongs to the tropical rain forest type of karst sword shaped and needle shaped stone forest in the scientific classification of geomorphology, with an area of about 600 mu. This kind of stone forest is first found in China, and there are only two cases in the world. Previously, people only saw it in mulu, Malaysia, and its area is smaller than that of Xian'an stone forest. The appearance of stone forest in Xian'an immediately attracted the attention of relevant departments. In April 2000, stone forest in Shilu of Yunnan declared world natural assets to the United Nations. In the video attached to the declaration, we should first briefly introduce several stone forests in China, and the stone forest in Xian'an became the focus of the introduction in the attachment. This shows that shortly after its discovery, Xian'an stone forest has become second only to Lunan Stone Forest in Ashima's hometown. At the foot of the stone forest in Xian'an, many caves in the bottom of the mountain zigzag back and forth. Qianlong cave is one of the famous ones, about 400 meters long. After discovering the stone forest, Professor Yang continued to explore the karst cave at the bottom of the mountain, and found an unknown cave in that year, with the main cave nearly 20 kilometers long. The stone forest in Xian'an, which is a collection of rare stone green hills, cliff caves, ancient trees and giant vines, has been favored by nature. In 1995, the fourth year after the discovery of the stone forest, a Miao Village dozens of miles away moved to a flat land next to the stone forest in the south, and the stone forest has a strong Miao style.

Stone Forest

Stone forest is located in the border of Baoting county and Sanya City, standing on the xian'anling mountain with an altitude of 700 meters, covering an area of about 39 hectares. Experts have given some beautiful names to strange rocks such as camel, eagle, fairy, dinosaur, tiger, leopard, tortoise, seahorse and so on. More strange shapes of stone buds are hard to find in the world, so we have to give them the good name of "visitors from outside the world". There are also many caves in the stone forest scenic area, which are of different sizes, with a total of 400 folds. There are wooden boats crossing the river under the cave. There are xiaoqianlong cave, fairy cave and Panlong cave. The size of the cave is different, and the big one can accommodate hundreds of people; the cave moves back and forth in twists and turns, and is full of bell breasts, with different shapes. There are holes in the cave, and there are rivers under the cave, so wooden boats can be used. The stone forest is distributed on a mountain surrounded by cliffs, ancient trees and a relative height difference of more than 150 meters. The natural vegetation coverage reaches 70%, showing a tropical low mountain rainforest landscape. The stone forest in Xian'an integrates mountains, rocks, caves, cliffs, forests and streams. The scenery is rich and colorful, which is a natural and gorgeous picture. If we use "Xiongqi" to describe the stone forest in Lunan of Yunnan, then Xianan stone forest should be called "magic". Because it fills the gap of the tropical karst stone forest landform in China, it is of great scientific value and should be called "rare".

A masterpiece of nature

Maoganxian'an stone forest is an exquisite masterpiece of nature. Due to the evolution of crustal movement for thousands of generations, the vicissitudes of life and the erosion of wind and rain, it has gradually formed a majestic karst landform. With the uncanny workmanship of nature, it has created a fairyland palace and wonders of all things. Walking in the stone forest, people can see the vivid and lifelike stone scenery, such as Tigers and leopards, like dinosaurs, like fairies, like eagles, with camels, shine on each other, inspiration suddenly, full of emotion. It is a rare natural stone forest scenic spot in Hainan.

The surrounding scenery

In addition to the wonderful stone forest landscape, xian'anling also has the charming scenery of mountains and waters, Yuxiu Zhongling. Around the mountain, there are endless dark green rubber forest, terraced fields, elegant coconut sea, strong pine forest, and the forest is full of sound. Standing at the top of the mountain and looking around, you can feel as if you are in a fairyland in space. The white clouds are rolling and shaking, making you feel like a dreamer. The rolling mountains, crisscrossing streams and rivers, fields, green forests and sea are like a painting of mountains and waters with rich colors, which makes you have endless aftertaste.

Mysterious cave

It is not clear how many caves there are under the foot of Shilin. At present, there are three named caves besides Qianlong cave. It is said that one of the undiscovered caves leads all the way to the sea. It is said that a group of ducks from a Miao village, a few kilometers away, entered the cave during the flood one year. As a result, half a month later, the ducks came out of the sea in Lingshui Li Autonomous County. Of course, it's just a legend, and no one explored it on the spot. But at the end of 1992, when Yang Huo led a group of students to explore one of the caves, he found that he had indeed entered the Dragon Palace in the East China Sea.

It's a cave which is called "ancestral cave" by the Miao family. It's said that only one person in each generation knows the cave entrance. After the discovery of Xian'an stone forest, Yang Huo found "shenxianzu cave" with his rich experience in underground cave exploration. According to Yang Huo's description, this is a karst cave along the Northeast southwest direction of the anticline mountain. After preliminary exploration, the underground main cave is 19.8 km long, and the whole karst cave structure system is about 25 km long with branch caves. This data is much more than all the caves found in Hainan. At that time, Professor Yang and his group of six people walked in the cave for six days and five nights, and finally got out of a cave in nakeng mountain area of Sanya City. In the cave, they found a wide underground Domed hall, more than 350 meters long and 78 meters wide on average. The widest part is 115 meters, covering an area of three football fields. Professor Yang described the scenery in the cave as follows: at the bottom of the hall, there are a wide range of stalagmites. Among them, more than ten towering stalagmite forests in the shape of cedar, Taber and tower are like silver hills in the forest and snow plain. The cave walls on both sides of the hall show many sedimentary stone waterfalls, stone curtains, stone curtains and oval shaped stone shields produced by the flowing water When we irradiate these scenes with battery light, the crystal pure calcite on the surface twinkles like stars, twinkling like the Milky way in the sky. About 800 meters to the southwest of the hall, there is a 280 meter long "gypsum flower crystal" corridor. The whole cave is crystal clear and transparent, like a crystal palace. Its purity is rare in Chinese cave scenery! In addition, underground waterfalls and 3 km long underground rivers are also found in the cave.

Cause of formation

The power of stone forest is mainly due to the dissolution of nature. It's a long process, and only time is its author. The rocks (limestone and dolomite) that can be dissolved chemically have long been subjected to the combined effects of the dissolution of natural water containing weak carbonic acid and organic acids secreted by organisms, water erosion and gravity collapse of the rocks themselves. On the surface of the earth, peculiar landforms such as peak forest, peak cluster and stone forest are formed, while on the ground, karst caves and underground rivers are formed.
