Baoshan Museum

Baoshan Museum started construction on February 1, 1999, and opened on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China in September 1999. The building of the museum imitates the shape of ancient Chinese southern bronze drum, with four large relief decorations of "Legend of Jiulong", "Silk Road double rainbow", "Yongchang Xianggeng" and "crossing Nujiang River". The whole building is 19.6 meters high, with a maximum diameter of 56.6 meters, a total construction area of 3224 square meters, and a total investment of 5.7 million yuan.

Development history

Baoshan Museum started construction on February 1, 1999, and opened on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China in September 1999.

The building of the museum imitates the shape of ancient Chinese southern bronze drum, with four large relief decorations of "Legend of Jiulong", "Silk Road double rainbow", "Yongchang Xianggeng" and "crossing Nujiang River". The whole building is 19.6 meters high, with a maximum diameter of 56.6 meters, a total construction area of 3224 square meters, and a total investment of 5.7 million yuan.

The museum has seven exhibition halls, with a total length of more than 400 meters. The exhibition is divided into eight topics: "prehistoric culture", "Ailao culture", "Yongchang culture", "Anti Japanese war in western Yunnan", "historical figures", "national culture", "achievements in 50 years' construction" and "natural resources".

Collection

A total of 663 pieces (sets) of various cultural relics and natural specimens, 762 information pictures and 58 painting icons are used in the exhibition. In the form of a combination of pictures and cultural relics, the exhibition comprehensively and systematically shows Baoshan's social development and evolution history and rich natural and cultural resources in tens of thousands of years since the late Paleolithic age.
